I've been trying out some of the newer mice out there and they all seem to have a really high lift off distance. That's not really my cup of tea so I was wondering if there any good mice with low LOD.
It's not as bad as it looks. Given the stiffness of the Huanos, that's more likely to be what people don't like in the feel of the clicks. Lots of people seem happy just complaining about the number too.
the click delay is bad on paper but the actual effect of it isn't as bad as everyone's saying, or at least i didn't notice it to any ridiculous degree. that could be because there were a wealth of other immediate and far more serious problems that caught my attention, or because maybe it's not actually as much of a big deal as everyone's saying. not sure.
haven't tried the new -a series mice, not gonna comment on them. however the ec1/ec2 evo + fk + am don't track properly on anything that isn't a black plain pad. jitters uncontrollably and has ridiculous lift off distance. also the DPI steps are stupid, and the mice are overpriced, and the colour schemes are horrible.
not willing to spend ~£50 on a new zowie to see if those issues are fixed when i've already bought four zowies and absolutely hated all of them.
EDIT: sens is like 30cm/360 no accel in case you're wondering
its known the older zowies didnt track well on a red coloured pad i believe it was. i dont have a problem with the dpi steps either, sure theyre unconventional but its not like it matters one bit. that said the new mice use 'normal' dpi steps. color schemes are obviously personal, but it beats having a razer mouse.
maybe you had tracking issues because of dust trapped in between the sensor and the plastic lense? they got rid of that flawed design anyway last i checked
i agree theyre slightly overpriced, thats the only negative point with the current zowie mice though.
in the end it looks like zowie's learned from their mistakes since the new generation looks problem free, not reading anything negative about them (but im not actively searching for info on them either)
can confirm they don't work on a red pad, totally unusable on my artisan hien. they also didn't work on my QcK fnatic, some cheap xtrfy shit, and a white qpad ct. however, it actually tracked properly on my plain black QcK, which is what lead me to believe that the coloured mousepads were the outlying issue.
colour schemes are personal indeed, i'm just not sure why the FK has the same colour scheme as a bumblebee. almost as bad as razer, but i agree, the designs aren't quite as bad.
your comment has piqued my curiosity. gonna order an ec2-a and see if it's still as mind-numbingly awful as the original ec series, or if zowie have actually made some improvements. :p
new zowies click delay is practically non existent now, their 3310 implementation is arguably the best on the market, weight is acceptable but it doesnt feel like a toy -- zowie's build quality is the best of the best
za11/12 is really nice...i can pretty confidently say i'd rather a za11 over a wmo
I'm hijacking this thread in the hopes that I don't have to create another which mouse to get -thread.
I want mouse with lowish lod as well. I've been using the g100s but it has started to miss left clicks lately.
It has actually missed them a lot for example when not playing for some time now, but the latest trend for it has been to not really give too much of a shit in-game either.
I have Kana V1 for backup, but the lod on red Artisan Hien is too high, it's unusable.
I looked at zowie fk, but that thing costs too much. I mean come on, 60€ for a mouse is fuck you.
I want small, ambidextrous and lightweight mouse with no bells and whistles. Salmosa would be one choice but iirc it has kind of high lod as well. It was still ok on Qck, but if it's at all possible, I'd like to keep using my Hien, as I've come to like it quite a bit.
Oh, don't bother suggesting WMO, I have one of those and I don't like it. Besides the win7 installation I've got can't be booted into test mode (in order to get 500hz polling).
Suggesting C O O L L E R, however, is still ok.
Funny I just got the Kana like a week ago and my experience with it is what inspired me to start this thread. Bad LOD like you said and didn't really like the buttons.
The Abyssus is okayish IMO but mine has some tracking problems with Qck (google abyssus jitter). It's definitely playable and I don't know if they fixed it in the 2014 version, but I just wasn't comfortable with it in the long run. Shame because otherwise it has potential (ambidextrous, light as hell). LOD was pretty average I think.
I've bought Razer Abyssus 2014 a month or two ago and I had to sell it the same week as the LOD on it was horrifically high. I don't know if the version you played with is any better on that matter or it's something more advanced player only can notice but it was unplayable for me. I then went to the same shop and got steelseries rival rubberized and it's fucking great man. The LOD here is very low I barely notice it. It took me a couple of weeks to come to a point where I feel it to 100% but now that I do I quickly went up to almost 2000 elo and I hit 50 rail consistently, more often 60. I have uploaded some of my games on youtube if you're interested, just type in my nick in there :D
on "laser"-mice it wouldn't work, and there is a high probability that it would not work with mice that use different lenses than those for mice with 3090/3310/3988 alike sensors.
(doesn't work on my xornet, which has a 3050 for example)
i could not fix the g100s with tape, once i had a LOD i liked the cursor began to jitter a bit with slow movements and even move on its own with the mouse just laying there.
Has to be opaque. Best is electrical tape. I didn't have any at the time I got my g100s and I'm just using a plaster cut to size. Got it covering the opening a little away from the lens and it works fine to give me a 1.5/2mm LOD
Mionix or Roccat for the win, if you want something looks like good balanced game device, perfect fit in your hand. Zowie has great classic shapes and pretty good quality too.
