I don't do steam so what's what's with edition on dvd

rage =full game
rage anarchy = full game and some extra stuff

can't sell a dvd with a new shotgun for back then Ł40

i do doom 4, if they have some balls and release a SDK instead of pretending its too hard for everyone

quakewars is exactly the same as quake 4, put with external child scripts instead of having to hard code everything in the dll

rage anarchy edition on dvd =

3 dual layer DVD, you needed crappy steam, after 10 mins of installing system components, rage installer will tell you steam needs to be in online mode

you have a code to download the anarchy addon

aint worth shit, find a crack to play it without steam

you can buy a steam download key here for Ł4.79

it also works with the dvd version when you install rage

steam is still prooving itself shit...

choose another drive, and the game is already 3 folder down, so the file path will easily beat 255 charectors in most games

that if steam does`nt crash

then it still checks for updates when in offline mode, then crashes or shutdown when you press cancel

i don`t want no prompt tell me to start in offline mode whenever i boot up windows either

click on rage in steam, and do properties in the context menu, and set the following for launch options

+set com_skipIntroVideo"1" +set r_fullscreen"1" +exec "customConfig.cfg"

open folder .\steamapps\common\RAGE\SAVES\base\

make a new config called customConfig.cfg

and add

It will run smooth on just about anything made in the last 6-7 years if you have an Nvidia card (so you can turn on GPU transcoding). Just think about it, it even runs smooth on a xbox360. The game is pretty well optimized.
There are lots of graphics related cvars to tweak, just google around.
If your CPU is weak, then lower vt_maxPPF. The lower you go, the more popups you will see, but the game will run better (try 4-8 for old CPUs).

i`ve put up 2 config`s, most sites will say cvars have been locked in the latest patch and the console has been removed

the console has gone, cvars in a external config still work, editing rageConfig, edits will only work once, when the game is shutdown, any cvar not saved in the config by default will be removed

vt_maxPPF is bollox, you have the texture popups because your ram is`nt fast enough, no other reason, you can set vt_maxPPF to anything, and popups remain the same

the more ram, the more locked pages, the faster the ram, the faster a game can look up indexed cache files

if you have a rubbish computer don`t use the 64bit version, thats as bad as quake 4 but does`nt clear your ram when its shut down

i got an ATI graphic card ( 1 GB smth HD ) and 6 ram along with an i3 processor, some new games work perfectly ( ofc not on ultra settings ) but Rage runs poorly, it's playable but the low FPS is noticable and very annoying :/

Yea, hardware assisted texture transcode only works with Nvidia (iirc Carmack tried using OpenCL but he could not make it work, so he used CUDA which is Nvidia only).
You need a "strong" CPU with an ATI card. Low MaxPPF didn't help?

No need to mess with those cvars, really, the engine won't ask much from the GPU, it runs 60fps 1080p on the ancient xbox360.

i might as well say what they probably do anyway, most people on other sites complain about rubbish wheels and railings

its why assets are rubbish in game, and the md5.meshes in 3dmax are alot higher in polygons, they just get removed in idtech to match system performance

origin is even more useless then steam, product keys are lower case, then upper case to finish the install, then preparing to install never ends

you have to shut down origin, then start the install again

easier to stick to cracks, mortal kombat complete, buy the dvd, then you have to download a patch which takes 24 hours at 70kbs, before you can play it using steam

need for speed most wanted has a 5gb patch

new config, you just have to change megatexture size, increases FPS, and fixes all texture pops, and makes it look better, and vehicles drivable with keyboard

rage launch properties in steam :

so i deleted 1 of my ram disks, you can play it at 30fpa on a athlon II x250 with a geforce gt610, 8gb ram using my above config with rage looking like
