The fucked up thing is that with the player-base being so small , sometimes you're gonna have to play one of these fags just because no one with your skill level is online or willing to play ..
ztn is turning to be boring, small spawnraping possibilities, almost impossible to chase with 6 dmg lg unless you are evil or something, broken starting spawns. Yawn.
ql looks so smooth in this video, i always wanted to get ql to run on stable FPS but i never managed to do that :'( Laptop runs new games perfectly and struggles with ql....
ql is unoptimised, i tried a lot of commands on my pentium4, nothing helped.i had a fix 250fps in warsow on max, and barely 90fps in ql ultralow. my theory is that the post process is always active, cause the fps is the same if i enable it or not...but this is still not enough reason to have such a bad fps. second theory is that the game is still running on a shitty browser, since if you hop into a map in wolfcam, you have like triple fps with the same content.
there is no real solution but to upgrade the system to a quad core + a semi decent gpu.
Well i got an i3 @ 2.4 Ghz and a 1 GB Ati Radeon gfx, everything works great except ql. and what you said is true, doesnt matter if i activate or desactivate post-processing, doesnt matter the resolution or detail value, the fps is still the same.
the only time i get ql to run smoothly ( just smoothly, fps is kinda the same, yep dunno how to explain that ) is when i play it on window mode.
Played both of you a few times Imo you both are annoying in your own ways ahahaha but don't take it too seriously :d
Shoxr 1400 elo with a 1900 level, that's enraging. And seeing your qlranks you freeloose to stay on a low elo. That's pretty lame lol. Strange behaviour
Jer1cho I managed to beat twice (never happened vs another 2000). Very enraging style. +forward no brain with very good aim all the time. Horrible when you play with your brain but you're not skilled enough to counter it xD
I don't know about lame, but certainly is not cool, because you try to play someone close to your level and behaviors like this screw the whole concept.
think of a 1700 elo guy having a bad day (psychologically), losing some duels that he thought he should win and then deciding to play with a lower elo to get some confidence back. He plays a guy like him, he gets raped and then he feels shit. Yes it can be funny, but personally I don’t enjoy making ppl feel bad. I know is a game, but even so we are humans and many times we care even for the most meaningless things.
just an example and I can understand if you see it from a different angle
yeah...
pretty sure it was you, shoxz is german isnt he?
From what i remember i started questioning how you were playing as you were doing some of the most bizarre reads possible. (in character with me, i know :D)
I started beating you handidly and then you aborted the match and kicked me off the server.
Granted this was around 2-3 years ago i think.
It has been the single reason why i dont ever play you or even join a server with you on it, cause you always behave like an ass for some reason.
elo shmelo your skill is clearly over 1500 cant wait for this elo nonsens to end with steam. I am falsely 1600 in ca, I dont give a shit about my elo, the problem is most decent ca servers have bots that wont let you play if you are under 1700. bottom line, I am not allowed to play in my skillrange because some nonsens number classifies me as not fit. so im forced to play lower level and people complain about tier slumming. #fuckelo
the elo system isnt working, i paid close attention for a while, sometimes i win but get -1. then sometimes i play 10 matches and qlranks does not count them. I just played a ctf match against 1300 nobos and got 18 points, then i plaid on a clearly 2000 level i was one of the worst players and got 0 elo for it. it is this combination that keeps me stagnant 1900 ctf 1600 ca for months. The. System. Is. Broken.
I am guessing you are not a better CA player than that. Also Qlranks does not track 2v2 and 1v1 if you are playing those. If you are a decent ctf/tdm player then I am sure you have decent 1v1 skills so just go meet/your position, stay until you die/kill your guy and then kill the rest. Also play only on bot-shuffled servers. If you do this then you should move up quickly and reach your "true rating" soon enough (if it is anything other than the 1650 you are currently at).
nah my skill in ctf is 1900 that is based on experience with quality lineups, so my elo rating there is probably true. my "real" rating in ca is about 1750-1800 based on balanced games. my point remains, i have observed elo game after game for quite a while. Sometimes i get -1 for winning, sometimes it does not count games (not 1v1 2v2) and most annoyingly of all I get shitload of points for rape and nothing for fair matches.
Why you get minus when winning is because it is not elo and because your team had a much mich higher average ranking. The rating is only based on win/loss so you personal score does not matter and the score in the game does not matter (other than win/loss). Use bot shuffled servers and play as I suggested (aka meet unless ffa is called) and then you will get a more true rating probably :)
Try making a new account and see where it goes from there. Haven't checked myself (idc too and 1800 is enough to play on most servers), but my CA and TDM elo has been fixed at +-40 points for years so I pressume it's uterly broken.
Surely, but I don't play CA to improve my CA score, rather dodge, aim, fighting skills (and just kill some time :p). I had more breaks than not during these years and afterwards my duel elo would drop by 300 points or so, where CA wouldn't move a bit. Maybe it means that you don't need any practice to play CA, just knowledge how and when to move, aim etc. Is it the same in TDM though?
Elo is very useful to have a clear read of your progression. You can tell you're going in the right direction if you steadily gain in average elo. You can validate a new addition to your game.
Without any sense of your level / the level of your opponent you can be mislead easily by thinking you're good or thinking you're bad.
You can think you're good if you rape a lot of noobs in a row and if you don't know their elo you don't really know they are noobs, so you won't train to get better. On the other hand it can be discouraging to be beat a lot by very good players and think you're bad, when in fact you're average but those players were just very good.
I'm pretty sure Qlranks has improved the overall level of the quake scene. It enables one to pick just the right opponents to train with and have a set goal ("objective 1500 elo" something like that).
Maybe it's because I come from a time where there weren't such things, but I could always tell the level of my opponent after one game, most times after a couple of minutes. I analyzed my mistakes after every loss, my opponents' after every win. When I started beating players that could consistently beat me for the first time, that's when I knew I made it.
Instant gratification is too much a part of the gaming mindset these days, so I will say I don't agree that its usefulness overcame its detriment. Then again, I also hail from shithell NA. Things are probably different and better in every way across the water, as it always has been.

Here's a good example of a complete douchebag, this 1600 elo skilled imbecile ranked 2k elo, plays weaker opponents and aborts when loses. He aborted like 5 games against me. His last game was played 5 days ago so I'm hoping he's finally banned.
