If anythnig, they should make Vadrigar the default voice. Still everyone has failed to deliver a reasonable explanation of why Vadrigar isn't the default one. Everyone that played Q3 in the past (including casuals) said that "why does the voice now sound stupid?"

It wasn't necessary to change the voice but it's nice to have different options. One thing I will say about the original is that the compression is pretty bad. All the new voices sound higher bitrate. It's subtle but enhances the game slightly.

If you can grab all the files from the last QL release that had it, you could rename them in line with the new files to build a pack where wherever possible the vadrigar ones were replaced with the old ones, but it won't work when you're playing online because of sv_pure.

If you wanted ONLY the old ones and none of the others you'd have to fill your pk3 with a set of Vadrigar files that were all 0 bytes so no sound (all except the ones that had Xian's voice that you're adding in ofc, I'm also assuming here that that won't cause a crash because they're not valid sound files)

And I wouldn't suggest you put either on the workshop tbh because it would probably be removed due to copyright.

well i tried it, the old soundsamples was recorded and saved as *.wav i converted some (3,2,1 fight) to *.ogg but sv_pure said that i cant pass here...but hey offline u can u use it :p

they should exclude soundfiles, soundfiles cant be used for cheating imho.

You could replace pick-up sounds with audio timers. Make a file the length of the respawn time and insert an audio countdown near the end. It was a hugely popular 'cheat' in Q2 for power-ups, but can be utilized for armors and health as well.
