doubt they agreed to pay the investment up front. Usually the money will be payed out in tranches. They will evaluate the progress of your project and will always consider to make use of their exit strategy in case you cant keep what you promised in your businessplan. So even though they said yes for now there is still a lot that can go wrong. But im glad to see someone is even interested to invest money in a real FPS. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out.
During the episodes, Reborn is usually mentioned at the end. That is the best way to keep up with news. This bit of information comes from the latest episode.
Yeah, the investors have agreed to the terms and financial support that will come in, its a bit more complicated than just a yes, but it's contract signing next.
Ofc this is a seed investment, I still have a lot to do with the team to make sure we can go the whole way.
either way, I don't know why I'm so lucky and get these opportunities. more updates 'soon'
well that depends, if they ever look to evolve a website might be a good start. as well as if u want to be ultimate survivor, you might wanna drink your own piss
I don't necessarily agree or disagree but given 2GD's involvement with twitch it might actually be beneficial to him to showcase that if you're a content producer all you really need is a twitch account.
yeah, its true, in theory they shouldnt need more than the twitch account. but it also comes to question a point they discussed on the show; to judge whether or not a company is serious, all you neeeded to do was to find the "home" tab on their webpage and look for name, postbox etc. (or something like that=) at this point, i dont think a lot of people are gonna not know who 2gd is, but even if its odd chance someone doesnt, i do find a page would help sell themselves
Apple is true hardcore BSD UNIX for professionals, unlike casual noob Linux for people without brains who just want to show off.
It's like comparing CPMA to Shootmania, really.
In Linux, even if you are dumb as Heartless, you can ask on forums or find answer in Google, so you don't even need any intellect. However in real Unix that Apple gives you, you are left with just some man pages, debugger and disassembler to solve your computing problems, which is the only true way of the pro.
Cant 2GD or anyone say an estimated time when we might see a Kickstarter? Im so hyped for this FPS game since I dont really like other genres. I hope we can see a kickstarter soon since im ready to pay!
2GD, when it comes out maybe you could tell us the whole story, how it has been made possible, all the steps, how difficult it is (or not so difficult?) to make a game etc...
Q4 wasn't really bashed, people actually played it and bashing was more like whine for improvements than disgust about the hopelessly boring, noobish and skillless gameplay. It was similar to enormous piles of whine and "bashing" about QL too in first years, which didn't stop quakers to continue to play it and everyone was happy about its presence on big LANs.
But why wait for improvement when there already is polished Q3?
So people jumped back to it, and then next big shooter from id was QuakeLive, so Q4 never got its chance.
Doesn't matter. If Q4 was not better, then there was no motivation to switch to Q4, and no one cares whether it could become better too in some equally long time.
Why people don't bash Warsow? Or Q1/Q2?
You will see that there will be whine/hate posts with 1000+ comments on ESR about Reborn and yet it will replace QL as the major hardcore FPS, and people bashing it in those posts will play RB every day, and then bash it more, and then still play and play and play.
One (or few) persons aren't "people". Every game has some haters.
Generally people seem to bash everything that isn't Q3 simply because Q3 at some point managed to hit very tough "sweet spot" that's very hard to repeat without careful game understanding that only few people are capable of (and I think 2GD is one of them), so just because Q3's reference standard is so high that other games couldn't beat it, there is an illusion that it's not possible to please Quakers with anything else.
it wasn't perfect by today's standards, but at the time it was a 10/10 multiplayer game.
q4's mp wasn't even a 6/10. Which is why I asked you, did you play 1.0 q4 mp? 60fps and all, which was like that until the game was finally fixed like a year after everyone dropped it.
hahhaha ur hilarious... please stop doing drugs...
q3/ut were hits because mp options and popularization of broadband inet... nothing more... both games werent special... "new" experiance of playing online made them legendary...
it took one year less for q4 to get final patch... at that point noone played it, BECAUSE GAME GOT BASHED BY AWESOME COMMUNITY
:-)
e: also regarding 60 fps cap... hahha dont make me laugh again... 60 is fine, with 60 hz refresh... ins is living proof of that...
the magic 125 fps rule comes from quake engine bug, allowing you to jump further/higher with 43,76,125,333 fps
Um, "new" would still make it special. You can't judge Q3 1.0 in retrospect. At the time it was THE best multiplayer FPS game ever created. That really isn't refutable.
Quake4 had a BASE to work upon and a reference point. The technology advanced, and Q4 didn't come with it. That was the problem. Q4 1.0 was awful.
From what I've read, it could have happened. The problem wasn't the engine, but the fact that it came too late. Former id tech users had the choice between :
1. Waiting for id to release id tech 4 before producing a new game.
2. Making a game with an old id tech 3 that will get laughed at.
3. Moving to Unreal Engine which improved a lot since UT99.
4. Developing an in-house engine to have a beautiful game and avoid paying licences altogether.
Of course 3 & 4 were the way to go. Now why didn't they move back to id tech when it finally hit the market? It was too late already. They already had their engine or their devs formed on Unreal. Why choose id tech 4 even if it's technically the best at the moment when it will cost so much, when the utilities suck and when everyone's pretty sure it will take a long while before an upgraded version is made available, forcing them to make games with outdated graphics until it comes?
Face it. Q4 at launch was fucking garbage. Only reason It survived as long as it did was because of the fierce competition between q4max and xbattle to make it playable.
I have been watching but havent picked up any news either. I really hope there comes some news soon and a kickstarter! So hyped hehe. I am aware that he said 4-5 months before a kickstarter but I want it naow!
1. 2GD announces they are moving ahead with development after sorting out specifics with investors.
2. Afterwards, there won't be real news until some significant progress is made with the game.
3. 2GD brings something like new additions to the team, a hype trailer, kickstarter, game information or screenshots, or all of the above a couple months later.
In any case, I think we are about to enter a silent period until some big news is to be revealed.
At the end of the FACEIT finals today 2GD confirmed a Reborn update at the end of the month. Said something about being under wraps because of investor details.
To clarify, he said HOPEFULLY have an update at the end of the month. He alluded to the fact that he hoped to say something at the end of February as well, but that didn't happen.
wouldn't expect too much unless he's ZOMG creative and will introduce something new. no one want's clones, peeps these day and age need something more brain challenging! we want to be impressed.
Yeah but still. 2GD replied to me on this site in like february, where I asked if there would be a kickstarter soon. He said that we might see a kickstarter in 4-5 months, which is like 2-3 months right now. Is that possible if the game wont be finished until 2 more years?
Also he had a programmer that is like programming the game. One year ago he could be working for them for 2 years. That is one more year. This might have changed because they got fundings now.
A playable alpha version was built. The programmer probably hasn't contributed much beyond completing that phase because they needed funding to continue, and at the time, 2GD wasn't even sure if it was something he was going to pursue.
Now, 2GD has funding from investors and can continue with the project. He will bring more people into the team, follow his previously halted plans, and probably discuss more details about the game as they develop. He has said he may use Kickstarter as secondary funding in order to maintain freedom and control over the game.
Keep in mind 2GD has other obligations, mainly The GD Studio. He can't be negligent if he wants his enterprises to be successful. Two years for a game embellishing the vision of the one FPS to unite them all, the paradigm of competitive shooters, is a bold pursuit.
Doom 4 could easily be released sooner than this :/
Hack I'll still cross my fingers for this to succeed.
It's a shame that months passed and there is still no new news to see.
i posted this almost verbatim in another thread, but why is everyone expecting doom 4 to have amazing multiplayer? doom has and always will be a triple a singleplayer title (ya sure ppl played d2 multiplayer, but doom 3 had awful multiplayer and im guessing id is satisfied with their current multiplayer product, which is QL).
Only thing that can save singleplayer shooters are Coop campaigns. Otherwise it starts getting boring super fast after beating all difficulty levels several times :>
Rumored to have some info at the next "Meeting" show. Except nobody knows when that show is going to be. The GD Show, unfortunately, isn't very interesting for anything but SC2/DOTA2 news.
Quake usually gets a 30 second blurb from James before they end the show.
He said this morning the recent meetings with investors went really well and there's an investment offer on the table but he's looking at other ones. the game has been on hold for 2 months until investment is taken care of.
When I saw the stupid ball creature rolling around I was pretty underwhelmed and disappointed. It also seems like a game that's too cobbled together. Like James wants it to have movement systems that existed in basically every arena fps out there which doesn't make any sense. Why have 10 different movement systems and abilities. But we'll see with time.
It's a bug present in hundreds of games; not a Q3 creation.
TBH I don't imagine either Reborn or Reflex ever being finished, as they both are at least 4 years old as a project and still are in pre-alpha state, so the movement discussion itself is not that relevant. Might as well focus in those that will be, like Overwatch.
Didn't believe any of this shit. It's nice to hype yourself with the hopes of something new, but in practice all these numerous, separate developers on their own aren't going to achieve much. I've seen this before. If only half of them would unite to make a game, then maybe they could develop it in time before we get old and die. Though that's not going to happen, human nature say no.
