I am looking for a new mouse pad. I do not care about the price to much. But I am using a optical mouse. What is the best mouse pad for the optical sensor right now? Is it still the QcK?
larger than a QcK, but smaller than a QcK+. i've never found the size to be a problem for me @ 37cm/360, but if your sens is substantially lower you might want to give it a miss.
glide/tracking/control is basically just the best i've ever used though, i can't even describe it. it's not quite as fast as a hard pad, but faster than most cloth pads, yet somehow it still has a ridiculously good level of control. but yeah the surface can feel slightly abrasive at first until you're used to it :>
the point is you jump to assumptions about things you're unqualified to speak about. you can't just say it's ludicrous that people recommend a very good mousepad that happens to be quite expensive and then not explain why or even offer an alternative...
PS: my post wasn't approved originally along with the others. thanks to the justiciar knight of esreality administration who is fighting in the name of those too lazy to register an account

No I didn't. I went in there with some questions. I did not go in there as a supposed expert.
I'd never stared at other parts of the screen in 16:9 resolution (which is required in order to judge the anti-blur capabilities) before. So it was new to me, and that was completely reflected by my post. My post in no way reflected an attitude that I was knowledgeable about the subject.

Well I did in another comment, as well as many other times previously. The simplest way to put it is like buying a $1000 microphone for PC gaming. It's a ludicrous waste of money.
it's the mousepad that decides how much control you get with your playstyle. More than a mouse itself.
There are worlds between hard pads, usual cloth pads(including the cheap ones you always recommend) and pads like from artisan, or the faster zowie pads and so on.
it's all preference, but if you prefer faster clothpads you have to pay for it, you can't go around it if you want the best possible setup for yourself.
I've been using a Zowie P-SR (smaller version of G-SR) pad for the last 2 months. I used a Qck for about 4 years before that. The rubber underneath is tightly packed so it feels smoother than a Qck and the cloth doesn't hold dust at all. I always had to wash the Qck because of the dust build up, I haven't cleaned this at all and still looks like new.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone over a Qck.
I have a Zowie SpawN Edition G-TF, it's a little bit too tiny for low sens, the friction with Teflon feet on Zowie EC1 evo ist quite OK, has a bit resistance.
It's a lot faster than my ooold Everglide Titan.

Beyond gliding properties and stuff there definitely is a difference in tracking performance even between just (plain) cloth pads. A QCK in portrait is different from a QCK in landscape - patterns in the cloth affect tracking. Interestingly enough, the MLT04 works better on both the QCK and Goliathus in portrait, but the S3095 (G400) on both in landscape.
I have no idea what possibly makes a pad "the best", I've just been playing QCK+ for years and haven't had to change once; they hold up and after an initial break-in phase of a few months the gliding properties mostly stay the same.

It's cheaper than buying a QcK+ and smoother too. It's not as soft as the QcK+ either. It is the same width but is around 2 inches shorter. Worth replacing a QcK+ in my opinion, I just stacked it on top of mine
I was actually thinking about one of these or Steel Series XXL ones and buying a 60% keyboard and just putting it and monitor both on the mouse pad, but i developed and play a really retarded Arc angles rather then straight left to right.
I have the most god like right turn in history with the weakest left, never have enough mouse pad space 47cm/360, the one you linked i dont think will be tall enough.
I believe there's a reason the pros still use the qck. Other mousepads seem too fast for me and miss that long range tracking accuracy feeling i get with the qck. The only mousepad that i have found nearly to be as good as the qck is the icemat which is fkn awesome for the lg because its always consistent but it's too small and i find it horrible for rockets because of the lack of stopping power which seems to work as both a benefit for the lg and a disadvantage for the rocket.
There are 2 types of mouse control,
One is tracking aim
(you don't wanna skip any pixels so you want to move your mouse smoothly)
another one is flick aim
(You wanna move your mouse instantly to a point)
for tracking aim,
Fast pad: helps you to move your mouse smoothly, but can be slight delay when you change the direction of your mouse move
Slow pad: can be too much friction that disturbs your smooth mouse control. But Direction change should be faster than fast pad
For flick aim.
Fast pad: helps you to move your mouse quickly, but your mouse control may be less precise due to pad's less ability to stop the move
Slow pad: your mouse may reach a point a bit more slowly, but usually it's more precise than fast pad
As you can see there is pros and cons for both of fast and slow pads.
If your mouse control is amazing and always precise, fast pad > slow pad.
If you feel like you miss too many shots because of unprecision, slow pad > fast pad
If your sensitivity is low, then you have more spaces on your pad to hit a shot. So fast pad > slow pad
If your sensitivity is high, then you have to sometimes make micro mouse moves. So slow pad > fast pad
There is also a thing that can adjust the fast-or-slow balance, mouse feet/ mouse tape.
I have used very low sens to high sens with or without tiny to huge mouse accel, with 10+ mouses on 10+ pads.
Right now I use 20cm/360 with CS Hyde mouse tape attached aby2014 on old qck heavy which has good amount of friction.
I can still hit 50+-% lg(tracking aim), and even though my rail is not like super amazing, I can hit them with no issues(flick aim).
It's all about the balance, and playstyle.
And trying to find what you like helps you to improve your mouse control and game if you properly analyze what is going on, and decide what to do next.
Colored mouse pads? Does that matter? I think I want the G-SR but I remember reading something a few years ago saying that the colors of the mouse pad make it more inaccurate. Is this true? Since then, I have always used black ones.
it's not totally flat ouf of the box, the edges are liifted like a magic carpet lol, need some time to straighten it out.
retails for less than 6 euros here :d
really like it so far ! its glide is balanced and consistent (not easily affected by dust particles and air humidity ) feels very comfortable too !!
long story :
tried so many pads this year
infensus OP was practically a black puretrak talent with stiched edges
very fast during the first 1-2 weeks
then it provided so much "stiction" that made FPS gaming feel like a PITA
I also have to report that my EC2-A's LOD was 3x everytime i used it.
then ordered a hayate otsu, its "ancestor" felt so good when it was still new
guess what ! they practically sent me a rebadged hien, it felt so rough to the touch, my palm felt itchy sometimes lol.
dust got stuck inside the threads just like the old one, even tho i took very good care of it, - covered the surface very often, cleaned it everyday with a damp microfiber cloth and an old soft toothbrush
then I ordered a qpad UC v2 from amazon !
it arrived in such a bad shape that i sent back it for a refund.
then ordered xtrfy, same story as infensus OP + a very bad base that would not stay flat no matter how many books i stacked on top of it :/
then came the cm storm power RX, glide was good, felt like steelseries SP ;p
very thin and uncomfortable to use so it got shelved.
waited 2 months for the zowie G-TFX to arrive
I'm like 90% satisfied with this one, they finally got the rubber right and its surface works a treat with hyperglide Z-2s - easily mantainable too !
sometime the fabric feels very abrassive, so that i can't grip my mouse properly, especially when I come home late and tired.
I was looking at mousepads and I wondered which materials are used on your average mousepads. I use Qck's and im considering an alternative since I barely play Quake anymore. This is probably all made in china with dodgy materials. Considering most of us tend to have jobs were we use computers for many hours, how safe would be to place your wrist on top of some dodgy material that are probably cheap petroleum derivates or something? are there any teste "eco friendly" mousepads? I would just use the Qck to play and the one with healthy materials for the rest of the day.
