from what ive heard from people that modded omrons in that it doesn't even make a big difference. I looked up the actuation force ratings on the omrons and huanos and theyre both 7.5N. The click force is also less on the ZA than the FK series. I'm pretty sure most of the actuaction force comes from the design of the mouse shell and switch placement. The deathadder and kana v2 use the same omron switches and the kana is much harder to click.

Also I found that the Abyssus 3.5G glossy and matte versions had a significant difference in force. I found the matte one drastically harder to click than the glossy. I should add that both were purchased from reputable dealers and showed no obvious signs of being fake.

Thanks all for the replies, I expected it might be the case with the newer huano switches that the difference is not that much to consider an upgrade. The wheel currently doesn't cause me a lot of bother but I do prefer being able to control it (no accidental scroll) vs any other aspect when it comes to the wheel.

So unless anyone thinks I can improve it I'll leave it for now, and see what the newer models offer. If they're not offering a decent upgrade with the refresh I'll leave it until their next refresh or continuation of those lines.

I just got the AM today since it was $9, the buttons are by far easier to click than any other zowie mouse. It's definitely the shell.

I'm not sure how old your EC is, but they improved the 24 step scroll wheels from earlier mice that had them to newer ones so it is harder to accidentally scroll them. It looks like they switched back to the 16 step one I'm not a fan of though.

With regard to omrons, I have an FK1 which i felt required too much force to actuate. I took the shell apart and sanded the inner portion of the shell from the inside about 3 cm x 2 cm patch until i could feel it bent really easily.

Because of the curved shape, it is more important to remove from the edges than the center. I measured the unmodifed right click on a digital scale at ~70 grams to cause it to click. After sanding, the left click was ~20 grams to actuate.

It took about 10 minutes to do. Just a thought anyway for those who think the omrons will change the mouse significantly. Not worth buying a whole new mouse over.

If you have the ones that have a high click latency ~ early 2015 and before, this wont fix that issue.

That's great. I thought about taking a dremel to the shell before. Did you just use sand paper? Where was the patch you sanded exactly, around where the middle separator ends?

I sanded the patch where the mouse button bends over a plastic bump so the bump was centered under the 3 cm portion, also, because of the way the plastic shell button is contoured, most of its strength in resting a button press is from its outside edge where it curves downward to meet the side. removing plastic on its outer edge is like reducing the width of an I-beam, which will get you the most..

Finally, when you put the shell back together, you may notice that around the frontmost part of the button, near where the cord comes out one or both of the buttons might have shifted in or out. This can happen if you sanded more off of one side than the other on each button. My right mouse button was slightly hitting the inner plastic shell around the mousewheel when i put it back together, so i gently sanded the inside so it wouldnt contact anymore.

I feel the EC1-A doesn't have the same amount of spaminess as the FK1, which I think is because the FK1 clicker is closer to the switch. That's my feeling anyway.
