The name is "Community (VQ3 DeFRaG Freestyle Movie)". And I didn't see any frags.

Anyway, the correct statement is that this is actual defrag, and people who do boring lame strafejumping should gtfo from defrag community and call themselves something else.

Okay Youtube title is indeed wrong, it is pure freestyle (no time record involved here, so it is *not* defrag).

You can't really compare both. Defrag is all about speed, freestyle is all about beauty and creativity (even if we could say that Defrag involves also a kind of creativity in finding the fastest path and most efficient moves).

Who said that people who do boring strafejumping for speed get the right to define what defrag is?
Freestyle = defrag, there is no point in thinking any other way.

If you take some time to read what Cgg did say about the Defrag genesis (free tip), you may notice that he clearly stated that "The mod was (exactly) one chronometer and two map-objects (start/stop)." So, despite what you think, Kapiter is right telling that Defrag is about time record.

And obviously, Freestyle == Freestyle, Freestyle != Defrag, Defrag == Defrag.

Genesis has nothing to do with anything. Who cares that some people long time ago thought about jumping with chronometer? The most important thing is that initial obscure and boring thing evolved into proper defrag that is also called freestyle. And what it came from, should not even be remembered. The faster this history is forgotten, the better.

Yeah, the truth is shocking. When something is founded, it's usually many times modified to become better, so it makes much more sense to forget the flawed initial versions and consider only the more perfected thing that it evolved into.

Just as you wouldn't ask Microsoft to make Windows 10 run from DOS, because Windows 1.0 was created in such way initially, you wouldn't want defrag to be associated with a boring race just because some people initially played it like so.

The truth is that although you may try hard to convince yourself that you're right, you won't change the facts about what is DF and what is FS and I won't loose any more time with it ^^

Those are only facts for DF players, for everyone else, defrag is FS, and "true" DF is not even to be considered as a viable mode. And it's not interesting to hear defraggers' opinions on their own mode.

So you care more about an opinion from somebody who knows nothing about defrag then?

Not necessarily nothing. But the point is, anyone or any small group can invent some random thing that they consider cool. But it doesn't mean that it's actually cool, because maybe everyone else thinks it's boring. So no matter what the original founding fathers think about it, the real test is how it's received by others and it's opinion of those random outside people exposed to that thing, and not original founder's opinion that defines the quality of a thing. I can say to you that I created new gametype where you have to stand still for 15 hours never going afk, and I as true founder of that gametype, and as person who knows best about it, tell you that it's greatest gametype ever and it's supposed to be played exactly like that to make gaming most exciting. Will that make you convinced?

Nobody ever said Defrag was the greatest gametype ever. Infact, you were the one who said quite the opposite. You like freestyle, dislike timed runs but that's just your opinion and you're treating it like a fact.

Defrag is Defrag and that includes FS in it, appreciate it for what it is.

Maybe if this interpretation of my analogy doesn't make sense then you should find a different way to interpret it? After all, if you don't assume that your discussion opponent intents to make meaningful statements, then there is no point in discussion?

I think that it would be better to exclude time racing from defrag.

Defrag is only about strafe jumping? =) I believe I've corrected you once before.

Real defrag of course is not. But I generically call anything without cool highskilled rocketjumps "strafejumping", because I don't even care what jumps are used. The complexity of that mode, no matter how high and various it is, is not interesting.
