Shame really as its one of the busier ffa's... I did suggest mucky update the server tags to state max elo, but guess thats too logical.

Welcome to the club. I got banned 2 times even tho i was not stomping them 50 0 i was actualy purposefuly giving them a chance. It was a temp ban tho i am not perma banned.

Muckyman owns the server and runs it specifically as a server for noobs for a laugh, the MOTD in game states +20frag wins aren't tolerated, and a few of his friends have mod rights there.

I've PM'd you his email address, if you weren't causing trouble I'm sure he'll unban you, he'll need your SteamID to do that.

I don't want to get into politics over it as mucky outright owns the server and is there most of the time, and I'm basically never on it as it's a noob server, so he's who people need to contact re bans, I help mucky with the linux technical side.

BUT I told the mods that I've seen a month ago that I will remove their powers if they don't give people fair warning before bans (unless it's an obvious aimbot) as that's just not ok.

I guess this is what you wanted to ask me about the other day when I saw you'd tried to talk to me but left before I came back.

For me it looks like they kick/ban randomly. I've been kicked now 3 times, for no obvious reason. Skillwise I fit in, I usually don't chat, I'm not idling in game ...

I got kickbanned from that one for...being in the lead, I guess. There was no warning. I never saw any message about 20 frag leads, but I wasn't leading by 20 frags. In fact, I was second for a while and wasn't kicked till I passed the 1st place guy and started to pull away. Big deal. One server fewer to consider joining. If people want to create walled noobgardens, where only their friends are allowed to win, that's their right. They could be more clear about this in the description or name of the server, or have some Glicko limit or whatnot, but they have every right to kick who they want, when they want. I'm sure they're aware of the risks involved in such a policy. Me, I may start my own CA server some time, and I'll sure as HELL be kickbanning people with no warning. So...before the day ever comes, I'll say it once, and once only, right here: Y'all got kicked for being a +back, hiding, team-baiting, selfish, bottom-feeding frag scavenger. But I'll be sure to post a clear description that gutless cowards and HP hiders and wannabe heroes ain't welcome. All I gotta do is...figure out absolutely everything to do with starting a server. Is there no guide anywhere?

There is a guide on steam. You'll need a basic understanding of Linux terminal navigation. Also, there's an irc channel on quakenet with some fellas who are very helpful. I forget the channel name though.

Also, installing and runing minqlx isn't exactly a walk in the park if you're like me and have very limited Linux experience.

agreed, it's not that big a difference. i've had plenty of rounds of quad disabled ffa swapping 20 frag leads with someone

i could perhaps see their point if the guy with 30+ frags is timing quad to the second and timing armours vs guys who barely even realise there's armour on the map. but even then, does it really matter? it's ffa.
if you really want to irritate the ffa heroes who take it seriously like that, just time 1 armour and quad, it's lame but not as lame as fucking banning someone from a got damn free for all server.

Got banned too (a month ago?) and it seems like a permaban. It used to be my goto server because of the relaxed atmosphere, good ping and because sometimes late at night there's not that many FFA servers with a lot of players. And one day I got banned when I've taken the lead, no warning or anything. Remember a few other guys were mentioning on the other server they got banned that day. Never realized it's a noob server, I just join where there are players.

Got my permaban after this match. I only made 9 frags and got kicked without any warning. I just checked - before this match I've played only few FFA games on this server - all of them with less than 6 frags advantage.

That looks about as balanced as a match can get. From the top to the bottom, there's not one single big jump in score, rather a gradual increase, each position. Everyone has played the same amount of time, pretty much. ..
Maybe you won the game before that one, too? Or maybe they just felt like you were bullying them when that 22% LG locked on them :D

Edit...ahh, that's the winner, not you. You played the full 7:23 according to that, yet only got 9 frags and 2 deaths? Imma guess that that time is wrong, and you got those frags a lot faster than that, based on your 2350 glicko. Maybe they kicked you just for that

Apparently server sends wrong information - that is why kicked players get big elo penalty. I even asked about it PredatH0r.

Hats off to RS for making a casual friendly server that tries to maintain a tier. They ban based on if they think your skill is too high for the server and you're affecting the enjoyment for the server population . Yes you only got 9 frag but you know you're far too good compared to the average on the server. Probably more work than some ban based on elo lookup but gives them more flexibility.

That the server is constantly popular shows the benefit in the approach.

Hi guys. Same for me. Yesterday I got banned for no reason at all. Mid game and beng... And no, it ain't like that I am having too high skill (hell no...). If there's a skill limit, can someone tell me what the highest allowed is?
It is just a shame as this was a real fun server to play on.

By the way using free Amazon EC2 web services you can host your own servers and it's quite easy to set up.
