So confused...so are you agreeing with me that it should be a single bo5? Or...a double bo3 that results in only one set being played in a situation like this? Or...something else???
sorry to be dense, but i'm still not following - LB player didn't win the first set in this situation, so it was a single set. my argument is that regardless of the entry into the grand finals (whether double or single elimination), the contest for grand chempion should be decided by a minimum of three games (i.e. a bo5 rather than bo3).
in my opinion, the whole double-elim is overkill for an online tourney - make more of the quarter and semi finals bo3/5 and you give a high enough level of confidence that the winner of each series truly deserves to move on in the tourney. that way, when you get to the grand finals, a single series ensures a variety of maps (not the same 2/3 maps twice in a double bo3), which gives higher confidence that the winner actually deserves to be grand champion.
I wasnt talking about the clawz/evil situation. Just referring to when tourney admins or players opt for a single set or one map advantage instead of a double set in the grand finals.
If its a double elim tourney and you opt for a single set in the GF then it's unfair to the player in WB.
I'm just ranting in general tbh, I don't understand why ppl would use one map advantage or single set finals in DE cups...
I like watching Evil play online. So much drama and excitement. And then the match begins once all the bickering over getting a ping advantage finishes, and I'm like, "meh! It's only duel." My hatred of duel is deeply personal. I just can't like something that involves so much turning up on time for shit. How the HELL can anyone make a game out of punctuality?
But...if the market is there..."Job Interview Simulator", anyone? Or how about "Payday Budgeting: Financial Management Extreme!"? I'm not even gonna copyright those. They will be my gift to the world.
Its more like when to turn up and where to go, which weapon to use, which item to pick and weapon to refill, which way to get there and which way would your opponent take. All of this while aiming and strafing.
To be honest the idea of meeting someone in a predetermined place and fighting for your live after a short introduction reminds me more of a job interview (or something far worse, now that i think about it) than anything that happens in duel. Also CA has people that aren't actually in charge, but think that they should be, who get incredibly angry if you don't follow their instructions even if they were making mistakes themselves. Pretty much equivalent of a very unpleasant and hostile workplace. Not exactly fun if you ask me, but different strokes for different folks i guess.
I would usually call this a one off considering how stupid evil was playing like rushing into every fight but considering how well evil played the week before maybe it's clawz making evil look stupid. I am very surprised by how wide of a gap the score was but i still don't think he will win next week if he plays but let's wait and see!
BONUS SPOILER - i think he even made evil slightly rage there at the end?
I think part of it had to do with playing Killsen in every final in the last what 3-4 weeks? maybe he was accustomed to killsen's game and was expecting the same out of clawz. although they are both top aimers in quake....Killsen is a bit more cautious/conservative in taking duel fights and doesn't go toe to toe in every fight like clawz does
it is refreshing watching evil get owned. we're used to seeing it from Rapha in every matchup (except DHW 2012), but he tends to nullify evils aggressiveness which doesn't always make it an entertaining matchup for the spectators
these two on the other hand are always fun to watch. I think clawz beat evil also in a faceit cup ia few years ago too? t's like watching two heavyweight boxers with high KO percentages go at it for 12 rounds, dropping each other on the floor till one is out cold
