it sure is cool and is an impressive feat of modern technology.

but just like 3D I don't see how it anything more than a gimmick in general entertainment.

if you think about it, finding a use for a product is a major problem for lots of technologies. 3D printers for example. people build it or buy it and when it finally works they are like "now what" and print a flat logo or some model they have downloaded off the internet. what is the point in that, just order whatever plastic piece you wanted on ebay.

actually if you think about games it's the same story. the hardware has improved a lot and yet we still play Quake built on 1999 technology and all the developers make games that are just quite what we want. they're either generally uninteresting or the movement is wrong or the weapons suck or there are no good maps or a game can't decide what genre it wants to be ... the list goes on.

A few days ago I saw a video while in bed, on my tablet. I was wondering why whoever made it was moving the camera so weirdly. It was my breathing moving the tablet which I was holding in my hand with my hand resting on my chest.. It was a 360 time lapse video :P

Pretty cool stuff, but I'm not sure what to do with something like that other than to think it is cool. Maybe if I had a VR headset, it would be better.

You get to see a bunch of neck beards in the background holding the lightning, cameras and playing Agar.io on their phones while the scene is in action.

All that technology but exposing a camera to the correct settings eluded them.

Its quite old now, its one of those things you think cool at first, but you quickly realise the best view is usually the default one.

Needs 8k resolution and applied for cool things like space or deep sea exploration where the whole environment is of interest to warrant it, otherwise it runs the risk of being seen as gimmick before its real potential is seen.

If those involved in this stuff can heed my warning, I would be most grateful. I'm sure something more interesting will come along anyway...

I must admit it gives a more immersive feel..I like it :)
