Someone quoted syncerror as saying the first QL vac ban wave is coming really soon. After that happens anyone who played with 'known' cheats will get banned. After a ban wave, those cheats will result in an instant ban for any future users. The best known free hack will be included in the ban wave, but whether anything else is included remains to be seen.

We'll he could be but you'll need a few demos of him playing higher skilled players where he would need to use it.

There's a clan over here in NA with an FFA server. If I go on and play hard/win they'll kick me and other people.
If i just run around with gaunt and fuck around they let me stay. I don't even grab quad when play, I leave it for the other guys so they can ave fun and maybe get a nice quad run...

Still get kicked just because i win or get frags quick.

I had even thought about having them setup a private server so I could teach them shit since their skill levels haven't changed in 3-4 years :P
But I decided not to because of crybaby bullshit.

I have no idea about permanently banning from a server.
That might have to do with steam ID and ip address.

yakumo or flash soul would know more about that stuff .

If he knows who the guy is on Steam, all he needs is his 64 bits Steam ID (google how to find it if you know the profile but not the ID). The server has a file called access.txt which handles various access levels (mod, admin, ban). It should be fine if he adds this line :
ID|ban

For IP bans I don't know. I don't think there's anything built in QL for that. It can be handled by different tools to drop the packets before they reach QL though.

Cheat bans are surprising. Sometimes the players people suspect are actually legit and ones no one suspected are not. I hope they put them on a Wall of Shame. Using a cheat to get a frag is like someone lifting you to dunk in basketball. Laughably lame.

There is some hints as to how to filter players suspected of cheating (one or cumulative points) :

-Only QL owned on his Steam profile, or QL+some free games.
-Low play time.
-Little to no Steam friends.
-Game just purchased during Steam sales and new profile with no other expensive games. (same as in CSGO).
-New Steam profile.
-Private Steam profile.
-No intention to use ingame voicecom.

Ofcourse if the profile is private there is some things you can do as admin, you can ask him to accept your friend invite just to check the profile and delet him from your friend list just after.

You can aslo check his STEAM_ID and check the creation date of this Steam profile.

If anyone has hints on what we can do more please help us and communicate them here (is it possible to gather Steam profile IP adress when they connect to our servers etc).

The default minqlx "log" plugin, creates chat logs with IPs and Steam IDs.
IP also saved to the DB so IP<>SteamID associations can be tracked.

Vac wave ban works like this. You could used cheats 3-6 months ago and uninstaled, but you are already "on the black list" and you will get ban. It's like that on CSGO, so I guess it's same for QL.

Sometimes for the lols, when on a CA server I can have a look at the few "top" players steam profiles and you can see they've had some sort of VAC infractions for other titles, I'm not new to steam or anything, however I'd imagine if you're caught cheating in a game like CS:GO and you get a VAC ban for said game, does that not effect your whole account or only the game?

I would of also thought it'd put your profile on some sort of "red list." that gets scanned occasionally for any dodgy bullshit.

It affects only the game you are banned in. A lot of people were vac banned for various reasons other than flat out cheating. Running a vac game outside of steam gets you banned for example

Because of the first screenshot, live in game proof.
VAC bans are game specific, a ban in one does not exclude you from any other game, and it clearly shows him being kicked for VAC.

And because he admitted it afterwards with the 'it was for a bet' claim.

From what I've read the bans come in waves. So everyone using it should get banned at the same time.
After the initial wave, anyone using those hacks will be insta banned.

On the cheat forum where they host the known hack...
Someone there was banned by the request of id software.

That would almost certainly be daddy who was posting on esr as folsom complaining about getting kicked with "err 9"
At one point he accidentally posted a console log that revealed his steamID, and that clearly showed on the steam ban tracking sites as being registered with a "game ban"

Maybe he's cheating on CS:GO, now. Oh...that's Daddy, btw. If that account has't been banned, then I guess there's been no VAC wave yet, or it missed him.
I kinda suspect he codes his own hacks and doesn't share them. Which, from all I've heard about how VAC works, would seem to make him pretty much immune unless Quake got something like overwatch...which it won't, I don't think.

I deactivated a couple cheater accounts on qlstats.net.
That means they will receive no further ratings and in case of a duel the whole match won't be rated, since there is only 1 legit player left.

There are 2 extraQL userscripts which show you the "deactivated" status of a player in-game:
/elo score
/whois *
Affected players are marked with a red double-exclamation mark.

Mino knows how to use this API, so there is a possibility that it will also be made available through minqlx, which would allow auto-banning.

Before you start flooding me with "please ban xyz" requests... I have no intention of doing that myself. If there are blatant cheaters, discuss it on some forum and we'll see what happens.

I dont know if PredatH0r's solution actually gives them 0 elo ( he said "no further ratings"), but if it does, it is a horrible idea.

I've had this situation happen multiple times when players with a 0 ranking join the server.
The player with 0 elo gets put on a team with 3 best players on server, and then they win 10/0.

It would be even worse if the 0 elo player was cheating :/

Zero tolerance.
You don't want to get permbanned from a competitive online game, it's simple, you never hunt down and install cheats for it, it's common sense, and written into the terms and conditions for most online games since the very first cheats came into existence.

It doesn't matter who you were trolling or for what reason. Doing it on a private server just means you thought it was ok to do if you took even more steps to try not get caught.

All this tells me is if punkbuster was still running and/or you hadn't found a build of the cheat that intentionally circumvented it you would have been permbanned two years ago already.

That you didn't get caught two years ago probably just meant you found it an easier decision to make this time round despite having almost certainly heard that QL was meant to be VAC protected now, you knew the risks you installed banned software anyway.
This kind of thing is exactly why a lot of people think of cheat mentality as comparable to addictive traits or use of other banned things in life. (Incidentally it's a human trait that F2P games seek to exploit too, doing anything to get that first payment no matter how low out of you, the 2nd always comes more easily).

Cheaters, think about this:

You can't and don't cheat on pickups or tight-knit games where everyone knows each other. Oh, some of you try alright but you know it's like walking on a minefield backwards with a rug over your eyes and a wild donkey violating you from behind. But these are the places where, logically, you should be playing because these are the people that you'd like to impress. These are the people you'd like to see go WOW WHAT A PRO over your aimbot/wh/whatever. Because you'd get fisted in real honest game against them, these are the guys you'd like to CRUSH and HUMILIATE.

Instead you play pub gametypes mostly against unknowns where your "skill" goes totally unnoticed, as the people you get that excellent acc against simply don't care and even if they did, is an awe of a noob something you crave? Is being called PRO and SKILLOR by people who started playing the game 2 weeks ago a thing of any worth?

This is very, very sad. Fear not though, VAC should help you all the way to the door.

it's their job to track down cheats (let alone public cheats) themselves and keep the game clean. in cs they even have a person whose extra responsibility is to "infiltrate" those shady private hacksites and decompile the exes as a starting point. if i'm not mistaken, it was the same guy that would bring the community up to date of his endeavors every once in a while on cs's subreddit. and anyway, syncerror already said that it's been flagged by vac and the wave was about to roll out "soon" (5 months ago)

Quake Live servers aren't VAC protected because they servers are not provided by VALVE.

- Only bans quakelive can handle out are "Game Bans", which are given out by the developers, so syncerror.
- Same goes for VAC in general, Quake Live has no VAC support because Quake Live wasn't created nor published by VALVE. So stop hoping for a "VAC-Wave", simple.

I heard of him saying that on stream, but that was months before the screenshots of the VAC ban messages posted above.
If there's some hold up for any reason, then great, that just means it should get better soon.

He claims he was drunk downloaded/installed the cheats to play vs some "obvious hacker" several months ago and then vac caught him long after he did that (and only vs the obvious hacker according to his own story). Why one would take that kind of risk when you are competing in 125fps etc, who knows.

It's just sad to see you are still playing this 'I never cheated' card. Times and times over have you been banned, and enough proof about this can he found on this site by your own post, (together with many others).

However the cheating part is one thing, if you wanna play against the rules and be a dickless faggot, it's up to you. Atleast you payed money for the game which you'll never see again.

But when you go against your own countries laws, and ddos servers other people have paid and worked for, that's when you fucking lost it. That is concidered a serious crime in your country, and can give years of jailtime. The evidence is there, and you are the worst person ever to hide your activities. Just fucking stop it, it's not that people will still be seeing through their fingers if this continues.

You also DDoSed Rapha's game vs Ash, just like you do to the servers where the 125FPS matches take place.
