2. Games need crossfire support to utilize both onboard Fiji chips (it's basically two Fury X cards in one package), and it's overpriced, so you going to pay a ton of money if you want one.

XDMA is crossfire over PCI-Express. It's the best kind of communictaion bettween GPUs alright, but it's still just Crossfire with a fancy name.

Multi-GPU is the future, not going out market. Moore's law is getting hit harder than ever. In fact we'll see more small dies on one interposer in the future, starting at two dies and ending with as many as you can stuff into.

Big dies are cost ineffective, small dies are cost effective. Making one big 350mm2 die the yield will be pretty crap as we go lower and lower in nm, making two 175mm2 die will have better yields and then you link them together to make 350mm2 die.

AMD has this right, nvidia knows this too.

Also DX12/Vulkan can link GPUs together in new different ways, alongside linking together GPUs from different brands, i.e. GTX 1080 working with Fury X and similar, it's up to developers to support that, but in the future they will have to similar how they have to code for multi cores on CPUs now to get the performance that is required.

MultiGPU is != Crossfire/SLI, which is the subject here. I'm aware of DX12's MultiGPU modes (Anand had a write about this last year if you don't), but here, the question is about having two Fiji chips on a card vs having a single Pascal chip. If you want to go with the Fijis, then hf.

That's what Compute Units/Streaming Multiprocessors are good for. Every modern GPU chip has a lot of smaller little "CPUs" since almost a decade ago. The smaller the nm is, the more Compute units can be done in a single chip.

I'm using Mixed GPUs since last year (Nvidia+AMD) in my system, and I hope games will use them one day, but I'm really glad I don't have to use SLI or Crossfire anymore, I had my share of them, and I had enough.

Looks meh, but anyways, I don't think they are using the gpu accelerated Physx. I think version 4 uses CPU only physics for a long time now (since they switched to Nvidia's multiplatform library called GameWorks), even the developper said so:

"Destruction is CPU only solution, which uses PhysX. It may be that we will be exploiting other GPU later for physics simulation, but now it is not the case.".

its a multiplayer game, you can`t have AMD side with dodgy physics and building blocks in different area`s of the map to what nVidia players have because physX moved the block a 1/16th map unit to the left, and expect your netcode to be good

Watching the uncompressed with madVR maxed out, shows what one might except from the SP, and it's not very promissing graphics wise:( Something is up with the dynamic lights, and reflection aside, it's generaly 2011 calling. Gameplay is where is at ofc, but hoping for better graphics too.

I think input is decoupled from the renderer in idtech5-6 and runs at 60Hz (or 30 if can't maintain 60 on potatoes)

wat. 60 fps = 16ms input lag afaik. and 120 would be half, 144 around 6.8ms. i just dont wanna play a game where my input lag goes from 6ms to 16ms, would prefer if its a solid 8-10ms. consistancy is king in my opinion :)

nah vsync on/adaptive/off is the only fps related command i can see. disable it and get unlimited fps.

idsoftware really went for the authentic console feel with this one. its missing standard pc fps settings all over the place.

-Cannot chat unless alive in an active game (cant read chat in console either)
-No first person spectating of teammates when dead in round based gametypes
-Melee: Teleporting to people, further porting the faster the movement speed is, its confusing and rediculous
-Crouching can not be set to 'Hold to crouch'
-No Maximum FPS command?

Its saddening we're entering a time of full retard fps gaming. The core game that is Doom really aint bad at all, but outsourcing to a CoD/Halo developer and actually releasing the current MP as retail is next level insulting to all PC FPS players out there.
