the hype will wear off, eventually.
a lot of it is always artificial anyway. if you're a streamer/youtuber/gamer with social media presence, it's always in your financial interest to whip up some fake hype, even if you don't particularly enjoy a game or whatever.
been like that for some time now.
His grandma most likely will !rape! us all at quake. :D
Funny shit aside - the game is too stripped from skill to be considered pure competitive, but nowdays blizzard are more going for casual than pro(i.e. starcraft 1 vs starcraft 2). That one button press kill everyone is kinda... obviously everyone to feel good. The game itself looks kinda fun tho, but I didn't play it yet so I won't judge too harshly.
From the pure FPS point of view, yes it's a simplification. Well these days all games are like that.
But from a teamplay point of view, it's way more complex than any FPS I have played. The game is all about coordination. Having one player that's not as good as the rest ensures defeat, that in a 6v6 game.
game is hard to watch imho. I do not really know whats going on there, of course I see they move the payload or they take the area, but I dont really get their strategy/teamwork ... just 6 heroes jumping around/cam switching between players very fast, in the outside cam you just see a big chaos ... there are also too many heroes, I think it is almost 20 heroes or something, its just too many to really grasp this game for an amateur ... I also do not like the fact, that some pro players were allowed to play these game 6 months before all the time and everyone immediately plays like a pro the first day ... honestly I do not think overwatch is going to be the next big thing, now there is still the hype, but over time it will place itself somewhere below CS ...
Yeah, that happens with MOBAs. They have lots of viewers because lots of people play them, in part because of the team aspect and the multitude of abilities, but those make the games be unwatchable for outsiders.
I think the same. Won't have the same impact as CS (the most popular FPS ever), but if OW maintains the 80,000 viewers it has on Twitch then that is still 8,000 times more than what QL has right now.
yeah, i mean there is still a big random factor in these games is that some games get popular and some never see more than a few players. i guess it takes dedication to make good games and listen to players, or else people just switch games.
It will probably go down a bit at first, at least that's what happens to most new game releases. After that it's anybody's guess... could go and exceed CSGO greatly or not. Lots of people certainly seem excited about it right now.
