all it comes down to is "if the game is good enough it will get attention", quake live in all honesty is very outdated compared to games like tf2 or ow where gameplay is basically a more streamlined version of classic quake gameplay with better graphics to boot. it also creates a better environment for new and old players to play together and not get overwhelmed by old player skill level too much. its not fun to loose all the time with no way to get better in the short term with old players having years of experience.
