True. I missed the BW era and only got into SC2 just after SC2 release and started playing BW a couple months ago, so hoping to get at least a few tournaments of this calibre, both skillwise and with regards to coverage, to enjoy.

Yeah i read about that already and am anticipating it, will be interesting to see if it catches on. With that said i think the competition on ICCUP could've been harder than it is. When announcing my lousy D- rank when making games it is usually similar people joining, making for good games.

They looked a bit sloppy compared to what I remember, maybe I'm wrong. Also it looks to me like meta game shifted more in the "organized chaos" direction rather than perfectly executed builds and winning by accumulating all tiny advantages. Haven't seen any perfect timing pushes and these 4 games were rather long on average. What do you think?

well the meta kinda evolved, but it's hard to get the timing down perfectly. after all, they're all amateurs now and play in their free time.

Yeah, probably there was much more prediction and analysis backing the up back in the days. Now they must be ready for everything :-)

Yep, that was brilliant as expected. Haven't enjoyed a gaming stream this much since last quakecon. When you hear them explaining sc:bw to sc2 players you can tell why sc2 doesn't sound nearly as impressive in comparison.
Classic, hardcore 1v1 game with skill ceiling over the roof. Only CS:GO got it right and they are successful- don't change the core formula/mechanics, update everything else. (yeah yeah, I'm gonna hear how cs:go is totally different from 1.6, but old pros easily converted and you can't say that about sc2 or arena fps games)

Indeed. Well, you have to take in to consideration that bw is a game that was last time balance patched in 2001. Everything else was done by map makers and players. And imo that's what killed sc2, constant meta changes in form of balance patches. Hell, blizz issues balance patches for sc2 even mid gsl/s2sl. It's impossible for a player to stay dominant in such conditions. Only exception I could name would be Zest, he dominated a lot of hots and now lotv. And even he had downtimes.

Games seem to be generally on Sundays and Tuesdays at 19:00KST which is 12:00CEST.

Was quite a short day today with quick games and the games being only BO1. At least in Quarterfinals and on it will be BO5.
