This was fucking awesome!!! Rapha could of stopped after he realized, but he stuck it out stayed calm and took away advantage aimbot. Was fucking awesome watching on stream!!!!
rapha is really the master of high ping. This is amazing tbh. I'm pretty sure that he will win quakecon this year again.
this shows that quake duel is far from being only about pure aim (rapha's aim has improved lately tho), it's very tactical/strategycal, and ofc defensive/offensive rockets ;)

This definitely supports brain > aim. Even though rapha's aim is quite good it's 1. not comparable to aimbot. 2. suffering from high latency. So even with the odds stacked against him he managed to win anyway. Love it.
look at cypher, his "brain game" is not as precise as rapha's, but his raw combat skills are better (including aim).
look at agent, his combat-skills are rather poor (except his rails) and he always struggle against one of the best combat-skill player that is evil.
But daddy beat Rapha and all the other top players. Also Evil's or K1llsen's or Toxic's "brain" game isn't better than Rapha's, yet they all beat him on lan
If your aim is lacking then you are at a disadvantage but intelligent play can even the field. Rapha vs. evil/k1llsen/tox has nothing to do with this topic because they all have human aim and are smart duelers. Defeating an aimbot with 100 ping requires highly intelligent play.
evil, killsen and toxic are overall on a completely different skill level than your average botter: movement, positioning, weapon choice, dodging, map awareness, etc.
In the end, winning will not be a question of who has the highest skill in one particular area, but who has the least significant gaps in their skillset when compared to their opponent.
That was my point. The guy in the video has an aimbot but can't play. Other pros hit less hard than him, but wins by outaiming even if their overall quality of play may be lower than their opponent.
I watched this the other day. it's not hard to beat a dumb player who's aimbotting with any ping. this guy isn't a dumb player.
it didn't much look like he was botting at all other than 2-3 situations. he's a higher level player who toggled on in a few moments, that's it. not an outright blatant cheater, and certainly not a low-skilled player. if "Elo" matters (I don't know why people care about this but since they do..) then this guy is at least 2000.
I've never understood the psychology of cheaters in a game like quake.
There is only two things that might happen if you cheat and win games:
- Everyone knows you are a cheater and dismisses you
- Everyone suspects you of cheating until you play at a similar skill level on LAN
So how do they continue to deceive themselves into thinking they are actually 'winning' games and they are skillful?
Although, I do think I somewhat understand one form of cheating: the troll. They get enjoyment from making people angry and trolling them. That one is fairly straight forward I think, but others who aren't trolls I don't understand at all, it's not like they are fooling anyone.
Well, the explanation is pretty simple. If you are a non-achieving socially inept pathetic little turd, you have to pass time somehow trying to ruin others' enjoyment to at least half as miserable of a level as you are on.
So basically if your life is somehow pitiable, you try to bring others down so you're not gonna be alone in your misery and you can feel some power and control, the things which you completely lack in everyday life.
The sad thing is that they don't realize that 12 out of 10 physicians recommend suicide instead.
1. I cry cheater ultra-rare and when I do, a ban is coming for somebody. Met like 5 of them in 7 years, got suspicious after 1 (or 2 at most) game, silently recorded the next, saw obvious aim (well, 90% shaft and Q3 bot-like "mouse-handling" is pretty obvious), got them banned in hours.
2. For a long time now, I'm usually on the other end of the dick in the ass if you consider pub FFA which I mostly play. So fail No. 2.
This is not butthurt. This is HATE FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, based on principles and taking pride in whatever skill I (and every other legit player) have.
