* Anarchy, a character on a hoverboard, is even faster than the already speedy Quake characters at the expense of armor and health.
* Sorlag, a large humanoid lizard, has a area-denial acid spit attack that can be used to protect power-ups and weapons from falling into enemy hands.
* When asked if Quake Champions would be free-to-play or an up-front retail purchase, Willits confesses that the studio is still wrestling with the issue.
Well I hope they bring the mixture in, yeah hero/champs with abilities and a 1v1 vanilla duel mode which will hopefully be like quake live but more modern and shit.
Doesn't sound bad at all. The fact that they announced that it's PC-only is very good news and probably allows proper modification and great input.
And I think the different perks on the characters is a good thing, especially for the newcomers and mainstreamers who lack a lot of experience and should not be slaughtered by people who play this game since the beginning. It also gives me the feeling that they will make built in pro/hardcore modes for the experienced players for competitive play. They will have to, knowing that the previous quake releases' succes was due to the latter.
Idsoftware is on the right track, and the fact that they want to compete with OW is a good thing; allows a broad range of people get interested in the game.
Hoping on a worthy successor and and open ears towards the community from the developers.
I despise the DLC models that all these companies are so heavily diving into. :(
I'd rather pay £100 for a quality game straight off of the bat with future updates than pay for a half assed "beta" for say £30-40 and then have to fork out extras for DLC turds.
