Yes, the way he held the Check above his head at end was drastically different than when hes lost to rapha before. He truly played HIS game again against him :)
See, that's what i'm talking about. Rapha is an average, chill dude. All the stuff about his religion is made up by people who need drama and to put stickers over players. It's the same in every gaming community, with players categorized as "salt golems" because they seldomly criticize some unbalanced character or expansion
Most of those 28 minutes had not going not only action-wise but more importantly strat wise too. The two are just amazing and i have 0 clues how evil came back to tie it to 4, but most the time there is very little opportunity on the map. Sickest map was again t7 i believe
yeah, evil made mistakes. way too many for a final.
also, like avek, evil seems to have developed psychological barriers when it comes to playing rapha. began after the 2013 final it seems. you can clearly see the difference between the ballz evil had in his play in 2013 and earlier, and the nerves in this final. in 2015 it was even worse.
overall, consistency, composure, abc > bursts of skill
otherwise, skill wise, there is no contest
thats why imo lan games dont show who is the 'best' quake player.
online kingdom-thats where its at
This series was legendary and so epic to witness live. Will probably go down in history as the greatest duel final of all time and as the moment Rapha cemented himself as the king of quake live. Evil made mistakes, yes, but he displayed amazing skill and mind-blowing raw aim throughout the tournament.
This was epic and proved Q3/QL is still the ultimate 1v1 game.
Imagine if it had the publicity it deserves with all the top players in the world going in because the price pool is actually decent.
We had this and it was a weak tournament in terms of players going. Cypher and Cooller didn't go etc. Imagine if it was a huge thing as it should if most people weren't braindead morons.
Too bad now they will replace it with the QC scam. I saw the leaked gameplay and looks like a boring Q4 while trying to cater the Overshit fanbase. It even has the same annoying and dull rocket launcher fire sound.

People are saying they were making lots of mistakes and that's probably true but i don't think they were playing worse. First off evil's rocket aim was on. It's just every time he had rapha trapped rapha would dodge and weave his way out of the situation and evil would refuse to delay his rockets. He made a micro-aim mistake and prefired when he shouldn't have below the jumppad and missed when rapha came out of the obelisk but that's about it. Rapha was also making lot more aggressive moves this year and he made that micro aim miss on the air rocket and stuffed up all his rockets badly after that but that was probably cos he uses much lower sens for his standards now and on stream it's normal for him to fuck up his rockets in vertical close range situations like that so he just hopes for directs. Rapha was also a lot more aggressive this year especially with the lightning gun and just because you see rapha make 3x more mistake than last year doesn't mean he is playing worse cos it could also mean he is taking 5x better risks. Also evil did some weird ass shit on t7 but besides the timing mistake on t7 most of those situations was evil being evil using the av3k strategy of constantly attacking the opponent until you can turn the tide of control which he did especially well on the comeback to elder because elder is a map where you cannot out-position your opponent unless you got the key so evil outaimed him with the rail off spawn like tapha did last year.
if QL was honymode good games would last long and shit games will take 5 minutes, hence we would had more close games with action, elder was boring as hell tbh.
Seemed like Elder was one sided (going Rapha's way) until he got cocky and went for that airrocket. That mistake led to his death and Evil getting control and a conversion frag. After that, Rapha seemed uncharacteristically nervous, missing lots of shots, etc. He fought really hard in each OT but I think Evil was in beast mode feeling that Rapha disrespected him with that airrocket attempt.
i believe he didnt expect evil to be bounced unusually high, so he felt it was late for a switch to lg and too long before evil hits the ground again, so he just fired the rocket... It was kind of lucky for evil to be bounced THAT high in that situation because if not he was a dead man for sure.... (but of course a calmed down rapha playing from home in his pijamas would have pinned evil into a wall with 100% lg, so obviously rapha made a mistake in that play, but understandable given the situation)
Funny, I feel like the whole final was one of the greatest ones to experience live, but never to be re-watched again afterwards. In every other context apart from QuakeCon finals it would have been a dull and boring affair.
I did 3 times, once with my friend and he enjoyed the fuck out of it (didn't spoil him anything). Most tense matches in pretty much every 1v1 sport happen when players make mistakes, take tennis for example.
