But if QC won't have bridges they would have to automatically scrap the CA mode, unless modders will add bridges to the maps themselves. I always dreamed about a CA map made entirely of bridges so when someone screams NEXT ROUND BRIDGE ALL you will be technically on the bridge even while being on the opposite end of the map.

CTF could be modified so we would carry a model of SyncError as a flag. Or Sponge. Imagine both teams trying to protect their respective sponges.

And some completely new modes. Just first that comes into a head:

- Something like Domination type, where you need not to just stay in area to capture it, but to actually do something. For example, there could be an idol (like Shub-Niggurath) that could be destroyed, but has an enormal amount of health. Like, 5000. So, instead of just dancing in some magical quadrant with bright borders you will be constantly attacking the fucker, combining it with fighting the enemies. Maybe Nigga could do damage to the attackers as well. That would create another dimension to a fight. More like Destruction type.

- Something like CTF... but without a flag. The point is to change the flag from insignificant stick with coloured t-shirt into something that gives you new abilities while you're holding it. The rest mechanic stays the same, drag it and take it all the way into your base.

- Siege type. 8 attackers and 4 defenders. 3 stages - you must defend first the bridge, then the courtyard and the throne hall at the end. Defenders have much more firepower and armor, plus, maybe they could use some turrels. Attackers, well, they just outnumber defenders greatly, and maybe have some runes on their side.

- Bomb type. But rebuild in a way that suits long arena-typed fights, not these rounds bullshit. Maybe its 3 bombs instead of 1 and you have to demolish 3 different areas of the map in timelimit. And bombs could do some real effect while blowing, for example, killing everyone in a blast without possibility to respawn.

- Spider type. One team is spiders and they need to drag the whole other team in their net (as maniac drags the victims on hooks in Dead By Daylight). The person could be saved from the net for some time. The spiders net blast slows players down till the final blast disabling their movement completely.

- Royal type. Each player of the opposite teams starts with the weakest class (pawn) but could earn an upgrade into a higher class by completing some task or route (as in CTF - going there and back again or else). The first team that becomes queens 4 of 4 - wins.

I hope they come up with a new gametype which is the combination of several elements from different gametypes and without forgetting the classic elements of quake such as picking up items.

I thought about a combination of domination and tdm.
Just like in Domination there are capture points on the map to score points, but also the kills also bring points into the score. You also have things to pick up on the map such as power-ups like quad and battle suit, and the classic items such as weapons, ammo, and armors.
Having control of a zone brings you points, and so do kills, and it's the combination of both that determines the team's score versus the other team.

This means a fast gameplay, having to capture zones on the map before the other team and then hold it or retake it, but you also need control of the map in terms of the power-ups and weapons while taking every opportunity to kill the enemy for extra points.

Ye, definitely. And you may want to stop holding fully a zone to go control items, quad and battle suit, because they may cost you more than a single zone.

We already know, the main mode gonna be Team mode. It's not clear it's classical TDM (I doubt it) or some new mode. Champions and objective based mode, it's to much different from classic quake (we already have OW right now?). So I am not sure about what team mode we will get. And I don't care much, becouse I am more duel player.
Duel will be there for sure, but second mode I guess. It may be created/moded by gamers it self and I am not sure if bethseda will support lans. But duel won't go anywhere. And it may happen, after few years after Team mode as primary, duel may retake it place, as duel will have 100% competetive scene from the start (as soon as it get's supported/created).

I'd like to see a round based mode that is a combination of stuff not just pure CA, CTF or TDM.

One good thing that I like about Overwatch is the multiple modes in one map, it's good when you switch between having to take over one 'zone' king of the hill style then switch to escorting the payload.

See what Valve did with Counter Strike 1.6? They made a better version = CS Source and then an even better version = CSGO. Keeping the game exactly the same and adding matchmaking, community, marketplace, making the old maps so much better with a lot more details and more gameplay details too, yet with a fluide and smooth engine.

They managed to not only save CS but to relive it to a point it never reached before.

They took a game which wasn't too easy and actually had a learning curve (1,6) and transformed it into an easier dumbed down version with better graphics (aka cs:source and cs:go).

People are already pissed off at how ID took Quake3 and made Quakelive (which they consider an easier version), and you're asking for an even newer remake of that.

I'm surprised you even ask how CSGO is easier and dumbed down compared to 1.6:
-People like me who aren't CS players had a much harder time in CS 1.6 where aiming was much more challenging compared to now with CS:GO.
-You could shoot through a lot more walls, boxes, and metal back then compared to now. Wallbanging has pretty much been removed now in CS:GO.
-On CS 1.6 you had a very basic radar to see where your mates were, not a very detailed minimap like you have now on CS:GO.
-all the difficult movements have been made easier or removed like double-jump boosting, or movement on ladders.
-in CS:GO you can be a total noob running around with a P90 and actually kill a few people, this wouldn't happen in 1.6.
-you can run and spray and hit headshots a lot more in GO than 1.6.
-the crosshair gap was larger in 1.6.
I could keep on going...

Anyway, my point was you don't need to keep updating the same game over and over for it to be successful. Just because QC is deviating from QL doesn't mean it's going to be trash, that's just your assumption without even knowing what it will play like or look like.
If we were listening to you we would basically still be playing a modern version of Q1 right now instead of having Q3A, QL, etc.

I can't remember if they've mentioned being able to play with the abilities turned off or not.

But considering they gave us the opportunity to play "classic" in Quakelive without the loadouts, items timers and HMG, I'd assume they'd also give us the ability to play classic this time around in QC.

Also it wouldn't make much sense to play duel with abilities turned on, unless you're able to change character when you die.

No, valve has had a bumpy ride. Not the best analogy, but cs1.6 to source was like trying to use a turbine engine in a rally race car, same general goal make the thing move. But now it super clunky doesn't turn the same way and more or less considered to be a entirely different thing. Even when source was out a lot of teams and tournament organizers were reluctant to switch over to it, so cs1.6 was just running on fumes for a while, needing a much needed facelift and so cs:go filled that void.

cs:go was't an immediate success either, from my impression wasn't until they introduced cases that cs:go became a real success, bringing in new blood. Also helps they've been updating it to be more and more like cs1.6 imo eg. Their most recent update made the shooting mechanics better.

I think CA is better than FFA for this kind of game.

Well more like there's no need to single out 4 modes, if 1v1 is solid you can have as many modes as you can think up.

but modding really is must-have feature, people want midair and other rocket-only modes, instagib, freezetag and all sorts of other things.

Championship Tournament Mode where you 32 players are selected from match making to play in a single elimination tournament of 1v1 duel and the further you go on the more rewards you get. Disconnecting or losing/forfeiting when knock you out of the tournament otherwise you have to stay till the end. The game automatically starts the next maps and matches for you so the whole thing goes pretty quickly.
