I'm interested, but not close to €60 interested
got hyped out of nowhere a day before and bought it, actually been having a lot of fun chillin' in space
hype for a week, then everyone will be bored of it. looks far too repetitive even if i dont know what the game will be like with many upgrades later on n shit...
The stated goal was to find the center of the universe. What happens, I don't know. But I do know that the longer you play and no-life it, the faster you can build a better ship or whatever and kill other people.
After reading all the bad things about the performance it runs ok on my potato machine with a 750ti.... its a just a big grind but having fun going between the planets, but it will be a short lived affair.
that being said, i enjoy the game. as long as i free myself from goal oriented thinking (like: i must go to the center of the universe ASAP!!!), sit back, enjoy the visuals, the explorative impetus, some mind altering stuff combined with bits of loot/progression - it's really fine.
overpriced, but fine.
this game challenges established thought patterns of quakers/gamers for sure, but once you come to the conclusion that you're playing just for the experience of discovering shit, it's a relieving feeling.
it's not competetive, it's not multiplayer, it's not high score, it's not narrative... it's just a - visually stunning - journey.
Yeah... more events, variations are needed for that kind of focus as the game imply. The idea is good - to enjoy the scenery of the universe, the beauty of it and have fun gameplay mechanics around it. Sadly it's like 1/3 of what's needed to be a pretty damn decent game. Now it's just mediocre at best.
I can do without PvP and killing, but then the game has to offer some other kinda intellectual stimulation. Cannot really spot any of that sort in No Man's Sky.
Played about 8-10 hours or so. It is a bit repetitive but I think the attraction is what others have said. It's more like a relaxing sandbox game than anything else. Reminds me of Minecraft in space, a bit. Also, just the sheer technical achievement of the game is pretty cool. The game appears seamless when flying between space onto a planet and into a building. It's so seamless and natural, you can be almost oblivious to it.
The lead dev said they've created a "large canvass". I interpret that as a plan to add a lot of stuff to do like Minecraft did. Just keep adding bits here and there and eventually there's so much to do it's overwhelming. I know the dev has already listed quite a few things included in an upcoming update (ability to own/fly freighters and build bases), so i expect the game will grow into the $60 pricetag.
Solid $19.99 indie game with an amazing central mechanic that got hyped by the right publishers to an undeserved, bloated $60 tag.
Otherwise lonely-ass game that begins to meander rather quickly.
This is a very good list of things that were shown in the demos up to the point of release, some features still being shown in demos from July and even in the current advertising.
This is 'Aliens: Colonial Marines' level of deception here!
