yep the meta is really stale, and the game needs more esports features to keep track of whats happening. but it still has potential with blizzards backing ofc.
Yeah, but it seriously needs more shooting, right now its more of a first person brawler, and it seems that blizzard likes it more this way, and the question is how many people are really up for that or have the patience and motivation for that, its probably the first "serious" game in years where i havent gotten my money back in one form or the other, but its just not fun enough in comp right now.
well the meta will most likely change very soon, with lots of changes on the PTR being tested. most changes are very good and will bring a more balanced feel to all heroes. Genji will get nerfed in to the ground which (while i hate the heroes design) might be a bit over the top, and on the flipside theyre bringing back the old large projectile hitboxes and hanzo is getting 30% increased arrow projectile speed....... prepare to get killed by hanzo's 24/7 new meta confirmed :>
i always thought genji is pretty much fine, just his deflect seems to last a bit too long imo. zenyatta discord needed to be reduced so i agree with that one. hanzo and roadhog are just lame.
well the problem for blizzard is, they have to keep the game fun at every rank, not just for the top players. genji gets countered easily because he gets focussed down asap by the pros, but you will rarely see that happen below rank 65 ish which is like 95+% of the playerbase. i totally agree genji needed a bunch of tweaks to be brought in line, but the way he is now on ptr im not sure anyone will enjoy playing him.
the way they reverted the hanzo changes and buffed him up baffles me though. hes the typical hero thats never fun to play against. pure rng with his skill arrow that can bounce through your face at any moment. but ptr changes arent always set in stone.
the way blizzard buffs/nerfs in all their games makes me think they overdo it on purpose for the sake of keeping their games active. its like theyre trying to please everyone, but their focus on perfection is literally giving the opposite results. one week hero A is overpowered, and the next week its hero B's turn....
blizz won't stray far from what they started beta with as their focus is on widely-accessible rather than mechanically deep with long-term replay value. how long the game goes on really just depends on how wow-ed people will continue to be by pretty graphics and cinematics (and of course a lack of non-realism fpses with a considerable population).
yeah i wasnt impressed by the casters performance. As for spectating ... the visuals of the ultimates aren't helping. If three or four ultimates happen at the same time you just see lots of colors.
KnoXxX is also a TF2 player, a much more highly decorated TF2 player than TviQ. unkoe is a shootmania player, and re1nforce has a background in Quake Live, albeit limited to local events. All-in-all, skilled gamers in a noskill game))))
game would definitely be a lot more interesting if all the ultimates weren't so oppressive. you could essentially predict the outcome of an upcoming fight just by looking at the spec bar.
lil follow up-- i guessed right who would win a given team fight about 83% of the time across three maps (so like 35 team fights). ignored the first fight or two at the start of the map when noone has ult up yet.
i do this well before the fight starts and only looking at the spec bar (which hero has ult on tap and which heroes are close).
In quake though though you could predict a fight pretty well between two pros where one has full health , armor and weapons vs somoeone coming off a spawn. It's easier to avoid a fight in quake though on most maps. In OW you really can't avoid a fight. But the key of the games is to get stacked better than the opponent, get better position, not fuck the kill, and win the fight as cleanly as possible to keep the ball rolling.
So I don't think that's why the are not interesting to a lot of people. I think they are hard to watch, and I think everyone's still trying to even figure out the game including the pros and blizzard.
lot of things make it uninteresting but taking away the FPS aspect in favor of ult trading (with typically mirror hero comps) every team fight wins out in the uninteresting column for me.
Yeah, I agree somewhat. I do think the game has potential but I'm not sure if they will try to make the changes needed to make it a truly good competitive esport that's great to watch.
I watched and enjoyed. I'm just watching because I want to see the QL pros compete and hopefully win some money and get relatively famous.
It seemed to me like for such a popular game, and for such big prize pools, the play wasn't really tight all-around and the top 3 teams were on a higher level than all the rest. Every team seemed to make a lot of errors. This all makes sense because the game is new. This makes me think that ANOX might actually have a chance for the 300k tourney starting in a couple days. Rapha's team though... not sure if they could win yet but I'm sure they'll put up a fight. It'll be interesting to see how good they can get.
Anyway, Winz and AKM kicked ass. Winz came up with a lot of crucial plays as you would expect from him in QL. I think the QL players will do quite well in this game and hopefully become known to millions of people. They deserve it because they are unbelievably skilled at what they do.
" Looking forward to seeing Cooler and Cypher on LAN"
Yeah, Fishstix might see Cooller play if he stands behind Coollers monitor but since his team captain makes him pay support, the rest of us won't see him play unless they accidentally switch the his pov for a couple secs :(
