I tried downloading that but it keeps saying it can't extract ZIP files at the end of the install

Well, it's not a zip. The Windows version is an .exe, Linux and Mac are tar.gz.

If you can't get past this, maybe qw is not the right game for you :/

2. Try installing with admin permissions
3. Try redownloading the installer

Id software hosts all the official clients on their FTP server. Try going through ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quakeworld/
