there is this thing but it's just estimates. they don't count all steam users, just an arbitrary number and then multiply. http://steamspy.com/app/282440
Like saving 10 euros would make quake great again... Come on, most people in the developped world with jobs don't care about spending 10 euros on a game if they love it.
You're telling that to someone who invested hundreds of euros into gaming and QL subs. Btw thread wasn't about me so i dont get why u neeed to make it personnnal. Cool story tho. Wasn't aware that id was a buiness.
lol the key part there is "(by id)". I was just making a general statement, someone has to pay to fund the master server, whether that's valve, or id paying valve a percentage of their profit to have the deal. something is done there, nothing is free.
Well the FR community was big back in 2009-2010 until they closed the servers... now there is some FR servers, ppl would play it again if they knew it was free on Steam i think.
Nothing is for free. But 10 bucks is too much for new players. I mean Reflex costs 10 bux and it's just better by nowadays standards. Go ask a 12 year old wether he'd spend money on Quake Live or Reflex.
QL should be sold for 2.99 to 5 bucks... just enough to mantain the master server(s) and hyping Quake Champions a little bit. It would definitely be a good move from id-thesda.
Edit: cheaters would be discouraged anyways as the average cheater is a frustrated 20-30 yo who doesn't care between paying 5 or 10 (local currency) as he's already wasting his time creating new accounts and shit.
Yes. Well, they still get their share of sales and marketplace transactions (the later of which probably amounts to basically nothing).
They may not accept on their platform a new game that has no form of revenue at all from which they can leech. I haven't seen any such game so far at least. I don't know if there are previously paid for games that went F2P without some other form of income possible.
