Might be your cfg causing the problems. Try running the default cfg, revert everything to normal. Then inspect your cfg for entries that might cause problems (r_mode's, displayrefresh, etc).

already tried that but didnt work. I just switched to some older drivers (16.7.2) and so far its working. At least a lot longer without crashes than with the latest drivers I was using before.

Maybe check idlesleep / power settings of your PC. Put them on 'always max performance'.

... i am also an ati fan, never had any problems, but u know what i cant be bothered to wait for them to replenish stock, so i said fuck it and bought 1070. For a 1440p screen it was the correct choice and if i am ever gona use SLI after 5 years another zotac 1070 wont be a problem to find i think.

Sounds like Steam/QL rather than your graphics card. I would disable cloud saves on steam, then delete the game, delete the folders, then download/reinstall. Should work fine then

edit: make sure everything's backed up before you just delete it, because disabling cloud saves will not let you get your files back

I had a similar problem going from GTX 660 to R9 290x, it's something in your config file you need to get rid off, I can't recall off the top of my head as it was a few years ago.

Maybe either try quakelive in safe mode, or back up your cfg and just wipe everything.

Wasn't that an FPS issue? AMD cards had some problem with r_primitives set to 0, so it should really be set to 2. Not sure if that was fixed though.

edit: AMD and their drivers really don't like OpenGL

I am running a RX 470 with 16.9.1 drivers on all my games without problems. Just didnīt installed 16.9.2 yet.
