not saying clawz's aim is bad or anything, actually he aims very well. It's just that people often see him as the new cypher 2.0 because he's young and has potential. People are all hyped because a young belarussian player rapes semi-pros and noobs with very high accuracies. But when he's against a "true pro" at cypher's caliber and at LAN, it's another story. People like cypher, evil, toxjq are still ahead of him.

and look at players like strenx, at his prime, he used to beat cooller cypher and so on, and even said in the famous interview with cooller than dm6 is basically lg-only. He said that because his lg was superior to both cooller and cypher, and when he won against them, it was mainly because of that.

Don't get me wrong, i have nothing against clawz actually, i respect the fact that he's young and like i said, has potential to get even better if he keeps playing. But people often think that when someone comes from nowhere and hits high accuracies, he's like an aim god or something. Outaim evil, cypher, k1llsen, or even rapha and then yeah, you're one of the best aim-wise. But as the time being, it's not the case for clawz, as simple as that.

already happened in some relatively recent quakecon (was 2014 or something) where tox played rapha on sinister, lostworld and some others maps i can't remember. Tox literally out-aimed him, even with like 1/3 of rapha's stack he could still win the fight (ddk as commentator even mentionned that).

no, better players force unfair fights that are stacked to their favor. thats the major reason why i find that cure and silence are garbage maps, because forcing a fight in the mega or RA death trap is such a massive advantage to the player camping the item. similar situations can be seen on a lot of other maps, and i think you should at least understand these advantages when making the claims that you do.

it's not always the case, and it depends quite a lot of the player's playstyle.

aim is just as much important as decisions making, or at least some player got better aim but worst decision making and the other way around for some others players. I mean, if you got toxjq aim then you don't really need rapha's or agent's decision making, it kinda balances the thing out.
ofc you can't always win duels by relying on your aim ONLY, but as long as your aim is at toxjq's level and you just focus on "your A, B, C game" (c) cooller, then you can beat anyone really.

ql duel is pretty balanced actually, ofc you just can't rush the opponent 24/7 or chase him endlessly etc etc but if you got toxjq/evil combat-skills then you can rely on your aim quite a lot actually. I've even seen evil miss timing RA or MH, but his combat-skills makes it much less devastating than if it were agent miss-timing items.

it was at quakecon 2014 or something, zoot and ddk were the commentators. And like i said ddk even said that toxjq, as long as he can get a lg, can win fights with much less stack than his opponent, so you have to give a lot of respect to him before deciding to engage a fight.

nop i remember at least 2 situations, the 1st one was at sinister stairs from up to the RA, they did a lg battle, rapha has better position and even had time to take the RA, but anyway was much more stacked even without the RA. But tox out-shafted him badly and won the fight.
the 2nd situation was at lostworld on mega, rapha had there again greater stack and made a calculated move to not let tox get the mega, but tox literally raped him with like 60% lg.

yeah looking at the dm13 scenario i think it would have been favorable to sit in lava or going up a jumppad

at top-tier lvl dueling there are all kind of players, from aim-whores to heavy-dodgers, to "very calculated" players, to "pacmen", to "out-smarters" and so on...

the beauty of quake gameplay is the clash of playstyles. Toxq is definitely an aim-heavy player, and when he faces rapha which is most of the time better at decisions making and positioning, he still always have a chance to beat him.

when evil, who is arguably the current best "combat-skills" player (but still have some flaws in his timings etc) meets rapha, it becomes quakecon 2016 final, where rapha only won by 1 map and 1 frag difference and said it was his hardest quakecon final of all time.

cypher is better at combat-skills than rapha, but rapha has improved his overall combat-skills lately (still wouldn't say it's at evil's or cypher's lvl). Both have excellent rockets. Cypher has a little better defensive rails. Cypher aim-style with lg is a bit more effective than rapha, at duel. Rapha usually has better decisions making than most players including cypher. Cypher is a well-rounded player, he plays quite smart, is good with all weapons without being particularly exceptional with any of them except maybe RL. Rapha's rails are very calculated, he doesn't abuse it like k1llsen for example, but when he does rail, it's often a hit or not a big deal if it's a miss.

if you start from the beginning, so let's say early q3, and including q4 aswell, cooller and av3k have a lot of major results actually.
for k1llsen, he did win 1 gamescon at ESL extreme masters, where he beat, if i remember correctly, cooller, av3k and rapha. But if k1llsen doesn't have a lot of major results like let's say rapha or cooller, it's mainly because his rail is good, very good, but still not good enough against people at cooller's caliber that can deal with rail-whores cause of their huge experience against this type of players.
dahang is probably the best 2nd/3rd places player in the world of quake. And he did beat rapha at some major american qualifier or something, can't remember the name of the tournament, was esl-something afaik. Dahang is a very solid player but yet lacks this extra something that could make him do 1st places consistently.
about strenx, he already beat every top-tier players at major lan events, including rapha cypher cooller dahang etc. Unfortunately for him, for some reason, he almost always "choked" in grand finals.

uve recognized that players have strong and weak weapons or distances or whatever u wanna call it, but for some reason when utilizing that to their advantage you directly correlate that to fucking aim. not trading rails with k1llsen or getting into lg fights with strenx is playing duel, k1llsen or strenx not winning game due to that doesnt make their aim worse. you even admitted as much yourself by saying that cooller is able to deal with rail-whores. on the other hand, evils lg isnt that of tox or strenx yet hes better at utilizing it, which is again, playing duel better than those two. you can take scenario after scenario where the same thing happens, be it with rockets, rail, plasma or whatever. aim in quakelive dueling is very rarely a deciding factor, as much should be obvious when some average (comparitively to strenx, tox, k1llsen, stermy, to a slightly lesser extent dahang too) aimers like rapha or cypher is able to dominate like they have.

i was pointing out that because clawz obviously lacks a lot of experience and is not yet a matured player. My main point is that all of these top aimers won at least 1 major LAN event (or placed at least in the top3 multiple times), when clawz, probably because of his young age and obviously his lack of experience, didn't win any or reach top3.
don't get me wrong, i have nothing against clawz and i respect the fact that he's a very good aimer, but it's just that people usually see him as the new aim-god or something, which is not the case (yet at least). playing against evil toxjq or cypher should be more scary for anyone than to play against clawz.
That said i hope clawz will continue playing quake and continue to improve.

concerning cypher, he's good/very good with basically any weapon, so then he doesn't abuse any of them, and can "optimize" his aim by switching to the right weapon "on the fly" infight. Means that his aim is very good with any weapon, obviously. Unlike some players like k1llsen or to a lesser extent evil.

concerning positioning, if you're really a good aimer, you should be able to aim well in any given position, so even if you get positional disadvantage you can still do at least as much damages as your opponent.

about tournaments victories, i think it means a lot actually, especially at LAN or major events. Even online in Zotac and faceit in the past and now 125fps. Ofc rapha or agent for example aren't known for their crazy combat-skills/aim, but anyway at their level, even if they're not the best at aiming etc, they are still better than 85% of the quake players base. K1llsen won some major tournament or almost always ended up in the top3-5, and it's not a secret if i say that he's known for his crazy rail aim and even his overall aim is very good. Evil has been dominant online and one of the best at major events mainly because of his crazy combat-skills and especially his lg aim even with bad positioning. Cypher is cypher, his playstyle is very different than what rapha's using to win, except maybe for the way he uses his rockets. Cypher has been known to have superior combat-skills (that include aim) to like 95% of the duelers, including people like evil (when cypher is on-fire, i think even evil can't outaim him).

now regarding clawz, he's a 4v4 pub CA hero, got some decent results at online tournaments, participated with people like strenx silencep and cypher at a major lan event, he has also beaten online some very skilled players, or at least took one of two maps against them. He can rape any high skilled player (high skilled =/= top) with his very good aim, BUT, when you compare him to veteran top players, he's not bad actually far from it, but definitely not the aim-god that people are praising.
but like i said he's young and no doubt still talented, so if he keeps playing quake, there's a high chance he's gonna get even better. He reminds me a bit of the belgian young duel player called "burneddd", not by his playstyle, but rather by the fact that he's young, talented and already can give a hard time to some of the top-players from time to time.

good position will garner higher accuracies, something good aimers are less dependent on. tox, k1llsen, strenx, stermy, etc. will hit rails from retarded positions, something cypher or rapha doesnt. hence, their aim is worse.

Cypher's aim peak is at least at the same level of other aim whores.
But the difference is tox/evil/strenx/killsen etc could take 1-2 months break and still be aim monsters, cypher is different, needs pratice, to change setting as often he did in his career.
We saw lots of cypher versions, sometimes he was on fire sometimes not, evil is more constant but i doubt he could outaim tox/strenx/stermy, ql is a dead game and they had their career peak ages ago.

clawz is very young, when tox/cooller won lans he was in kindergarden, how he can win lan today with max 1/2 event a year.
Other pros played at high level when quake (3/4/live) was a thing, they had dozens of opportunity to win a big event

Regardless of his Aim there is no way he could win on aim alone, he is a machine, once he gets control and the way he plays is amazing - He used to hold down a map so tight it's unreal to see, where people like Cooller, Rapha, Cypher will always have some holes in the control he was more methodical and used his superior aim to bully people around.

I've followed tox since forever and his evolution of game style is second to none - if he actually took quake live seriously he would be top and could honestly rip all of them apart - look at quake 4 for example, he was the unstoppable force.

Clawz hits harder than Cypher, on the right day, but Cypher completely outclasses him in every other aspect. When he was still streaming quake and practicing Clawz, he could predict every single action of him. Where he was, what he was gonna do (usually rush), etc.

Also i wouldn't say Clawz lives in his shadow, the two have almost nothing in common apart from being Belarusian. Cypher said he tried to teach Clawz stuff, but Clawz didn't listen and didn't care. So Cypher has never really been his teacher or whatever. Clawz plays on his own.

Yes and no. In his prime in duel it hit more than hal(same lg, better rail and rl). Stermy is mostly known for lg, but his rail is superb. Tox is another level above all, exclude him. :D

Evil has become the best aimer in the last couple years. He's even better than Toxic to be honest, Toxic gives the impression to hit harder because he never spams, while Evil spams everything like there's no tomorrow.

Also Evil's rockets are very underrated, they're probably the best in the game right now. Better than Rapha's and Cypher's

i sorta think youve to separate in-fight skill and aim, other you could include cooller or rapha as a good aimer. while evil does have good aim, i think stermy and tox, and strenx to a slightly lesser degree are a step ahead of evil

strenx and tox are the only people I've seen consistently push evil out of fights he tries to take.

In ql i'd say evil, cypher, rapha then tox because evil has good balance of lg and rl whereas cypher in his prime had better rl aim and weaker but still very good lg. Rapha's aim comes third because he has very good rl and weaker lg but he's style allows his aim to not be hindered in important situations whereas the same can't be said for tox. Tox is fourth because he has the best lg but weak rl cos of his sens. There are some more interesting vids i took out from the list if ppl are interested but this list mentions it all when it comes to best aim.

Tox in q3 when he still had beastly aim and quite high sens. For som reason he lowered his sens alot in ql. Look at this old q3 match by tox. This was still in OSP times when it was much harder to hit then it is now. He had better movement back then aswell..
