In this community you have to already be mad to understand everyone else
Case in point: Omega CTF server.
It is customary to have a 30-minute warmup. Then something between 4 and 10 shuffles happens to enchant the incoming match and bless it. Then there's lots of rage, anger and flaming between everyone including spectators, admin and even the server software. Votekick, vote shuffle, etc. Then, or even before the above happens, there's customary Lets vote the map I prefer and no matter it's the same map we played just a moment ago. Angrily blocking these votes and deriding people for voting maps gives you bonus points. Then the match starts and then you have the sacred Early Quits. The faster a person quits the match after it started, the holier the match becomes. Then there's the game itself and thenyou might get ragequits, midgame shuffling, you name it.Then there's customary accusations and rage after the game. Then there's another warmup...
Why do I bring this up? Because if you approach this with a closed, sane midn you will fucking explode and quit and go mow your lawn or fiddle with your girlfriend/boyfriend. Your mind will not be able to comprehend what's happening and you will consider the people who are there to be utter fucking cunts and isnane prima donnas with brain damage, alcohol poisoning, daddy issues and too much fappage under their belt to care.
But if you approach the game with a learning mentality, you will learn and get mad yourself and then you will be one with us. You will be a part of Sacred Whole.
If you think it was better when Quake started in mid 90's youre sorely mistaken. Only then we had more people who pretended to be stupid instead of being stupid for real. So it was more laughs than rage, at least for me.
OK. Yeah, not quitting and not judging on appearances along with analyzing what you do and what others do plus using all your defeats and failures as an opportunity to learn will always get you somewhere, both in games and in life.
You forgot to mention that most of the time you have to force connect while server is 16/16.
Then you have to wait 2-3-4-5 or even more matches in order to join any team, spamming /team r - /team b during warmup like theres no tomorrow.
Then again, the possibility that you are ready to play and people start leaving till server is empty.
Please add: timeouts, 999 disconnects, warp, warp accusations, faker accusations, !elo checking every 3 picoseconds, people playing for hours while specs are waiting for hours, unable to readyup at 4v4, unable to play a map outside 4 map pool and half the server generally being cunts
I thought omega ctf was a decent server, then again it's usually packed in the evenings so I go #ctfpickup instead. Anyway, it's an active ctf server (not enough in daytime though), better than none.
About mentality, as long as you can get mad playing you know you have things to learn and so it's good to see when you get triggered. I'd like to be the shaolin monk of QL.
This is gonna sound weird but raging helped me become motivated for the game again. But ofc playing with a learning mentality is definitely better in a professional game.
