the administrators group works if you take ownership of program files folders and set full control on all child objects, you can just drag and drop a zip into program files

years of permissions being broke on windows 7, not inheriting from parent objects, is worth updating just for that

windows 10 is'nt that bad, all the "spying" stuff, are just options you can set in user control panel, like in linux, while administrators still has control panel, or can force all the settings in a group policy for all users

windows update needs to go back to legacy of windows 7 and all previous versions, so you can choose what you actually want installed

It's been a few months so maybe things have changed, but from what I can recall reading, not all the spying/telemetry junk can be disabled in win10. And I think there are some privacy settings that revert to defaults after updates.

As far as updates, you mean updates before they started rolling out these "roll-up" updates for win7/8. No longer can you download individual fixes, it's all one big "roll-up" package every month since October I think. Which means, if they want to throw some bs telemetry shit in there, there's no way to avoid it except for not installing the update that month. The best you can do now is install their "security only" package, which is only available outside of windows update. So, it's a matter of waiting a week or so after an update and checking various forums to see if it contains any of their malware.

US international layout has dead keys on ` and " so you have to press them twice for then to work and end up with `` or ""

so i removed the dead keys, so you only have to press them once, and able to have £ when alt+shift+4 and € when alt+5 if you buy a US keyboard and have everything UK

I've been running a date-hacked eval copy (so the license doesn't run out) for like 9 months and it is the best windows I've ever used. You can even add any of those features back on an as-needed basis and all the extra Enterprise edition features are insanely deep, but easy to configure if you know what you are doing.

Those who buy the consumer edition but expect pro features are either lazy or just plain misinformed about Windows X.

windows pro will let you have multiple domains on your router, for media serves, setup boxes, desktop PC, laptop, and you can live in a star trek home, with cortana only running on the main rack server

Isn't that version updates too often? I participated in that windows insider program for some months and I was kinda frustrated when windows went to forced reboot after update.

yeah i remember that was the only time that it kinda broke, but you could prevent it from updating so it was fixed within a week and i could update after that but i got used to it because back in the windows 98 and xp days it was a normal thing for windows to break by itself one way or the other. it updates every month i think but all the programs are migrated apart from a custom resolution reset which i have to do every time it reinstalls.

i am kinda broke perpetually so for me even $10 is too much, i would have to buy a key though if the insider copy stops working (there is also a vista key that i got but that thing is on life support unfortunately or i would just use vista if they kept updating it). i haven't actually ran into nagging or spyware issues, my main concern is security and whether or not it can be compromised by some website that i randomly visit.
