Beside of that guy being banned by twitch 2(?) years ago for making suicide jokes, what else happened? Swearing is definitely not prohibited as I saw yesterday.
The whole atmosphere changed whenever runners couldn't be themselves, the venues became much larger to accomodate more people essentially making the place less inviting and more commercial.
Just take a look pre 2012 and you'll instantly see what I'm talking about.
Well yes, that is the sacrifice you make when anything becomes more professional. Still it is good in their own way, take the IEM QL Championships as another example.
Most speedrunners seem to have their own twitch channel anyway, so you can observe them in their natural environment there. But I understand when people are fed up with everything (that promises a profit) becoming professionalized.
