the weapons models and characters models look shit tho, orignal q2 with grunt etc looks much better in that regard :)

Yet another game that imitates or is based on Quake2, without having rights for that. No thanks.

What the creators of the plethora of Quake2-clones never understood is that Quake2 succeeded because of the time it was released on, but not because the core game was actually any good.

The community and the novelty of the whole multiplayer gaming thing were what made Quake2 be a great experience. As such, the experience cannot be remade, as it's not the early 90s anymore.

It's safe to say Quake3 was a much superior vanilla game. The mods focus on improving and expanding the vanilla game. But still, Quake2 had way more community-made content -that usually focused on changing the core gameplay-, way more players and way more public LANs than Quake3 ever had. None of those things will come back, since they are cultural.

Or in other words, what was awesome was playing CTF and AQ2 in the 90s and early 2000s. Baseq2 was not.

Q2 was the best. Best sounds, best music, best community and all around my favorite quake.
You'll never again see a game replace it. Just the super shotgun alone with its random spread and weapon noises is all I need to hear to get my day started.

install update java.. then run quetoo update the game will work... maybe run quetoo update every time before playing so u are current :)
