G403 looks like the same basic shape as the G400. Is that the case?

Yeah, I'm kinda going for something smaller where I don't have 3 fingers on top with a claw/fingertip style grip. I can get away with doing that on an MX500/518/G400 chassis, but there are times when I run into problems with very precise movements that I need to make immediately.

The G403 is rather equal to the G518/G5/G400 when it comes to the grip, better imo but it takes some getting used to. If you have a friend in Sweden perhaps you could talk him into buying this nice package for you:

Translates to roughly 50usd for mouse and mat. If you palm go for the G403, claw go for the G pro.

I am more of a claw/fingertip guy. The only time my wrist moves is when I'm making big sweeping motions or if I need to do an instant 180.

It appears to be rebrand of G102 which was Asia exclusive and hopefully with less quality control issues.

Any idea what kind of sensor it might have and how good/bad it might be?

Soooo...if I'm reading that review right, the G203 is a similar shape, similar sensor (obviously not the same), better cable, almost identical performance, but at least half the price? Given that I prefer to run 800dpi in my current setup, what would possibly possess me to go for the G Pro vs. the G203? The switch lifetime ratings? Hell, I could buy 2 G203s and have the same combined switch life, but have a spare on hand if my G203 decided to go down. I don't see myself using more than 800dpi until I make the jump to 4K monitors and I don't see that happening for at least a couple years.

Well they released this mouse because of people ordering g102 from Asia. This way they can earn a few bucks more on it because its a bit more expensive than g102, but you would pay that price difference in shipping if you ordered g102 from Asia.

And yes its a similar mouse to g pro, with a bit cheaper switches and sensor (both are still good according to reviews), also I believe its 2-3 grams heavier.

At this point I don't see the point of buying g pro over this

I'm kinda digging the concept of this. This may very well be exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not really seeing many reasons at all why I should go for a G Pro. Nice mouse, don't get me wrong, but not $30+ over the G203 nice.

tl;dr get a G Pro if you can afford it or are a playing stuff which will wear out the switches fast, or save a few $ and get the cheaper version with the 10M click buttons and rubber cable.

So is there an "optimal" DPI/CPI/(whatever you want to call it) and polling rate setting that should be used with either of these mice similar to how the G400 or other mice should have or is that not a thing anymore?

Every 50 dpi step is native but the sensor array is 40x40 so if anything would be best it would be either 1600 or 800.

Perfect. I should be golden then with 800dpi @ 1KHz until I make the move to 4K.

I hear on the grapevine tox is making a frankenmouse and sujoy is making another version for him too. 1.1a shell with 3320 sensor, and other version with 3366 sensor. maybe he can design a true 'finalmouse' so we never need to switch again :)

Seems like Quakers just stopped caring about the lack of a WMO successor and started making their own.

I'm thinking about getting one for myself as well. The G403's sensor is incredible, but the shape and the weight not so much. Also I couldn't use it with the stock braided cable, so I debraided it, and the feet could be a bit faster. And to be a bit picky I prefer ambidestroux mice with 3 buttons, and there are no current top quality ones like that.

i got my g pro , and i instantly lost 40% of my skill , with its superior buttons and sensor .

...sooo shape means alot , doh . it is wider then what i like , and the worst is the sides , its fairly slainted so my fingers will not grip to the sides, they just slide to the bottom .

ALso buttons are really light , i got jump on mouse2 and i were jumping by mistake constantly .

Winz feels the same that the grip is odd, and he is still using his g100s frankenmouse .

However i added some SUGRU to the sides(and buttons) to make it more comfortable for me , and this made it soooo much better. Now sidewalls are straight with small lip at bottom and i can move the mouse quickly again .

Will add some tape on buttons to make them just ~10% harder to press . Also the cable is not good , will switch also .

Personally i would like a wmo frankenmouse , with this sensor\buttons\sidebuttons.

I ended up buying the G203 on Saturday and played with it a bit over the weekend. The shape is perfect for me. The thumb buttons are in the exact right spot in order for me to actuate easily, but not so easily that it's in the way if I grip the mouse funny or grip the crap out of it for whatever reason. The sensor and movement seems slower than the G400 @ 800dpi, but that could be because of a number of things.

Currently using it at 800dpi/1Khz polling. It's silky smooth, tracks well, and glides over my mousepad nicely. Obviously I haven't had all that much time behind the mouse, but so far, I'm REALLY digging it. I could definitely see myself using this mouse for quite some time.

g400 800dpi usually was 820 to 830 in reality from ones I used in past

I suppose that would explain that. I'm sure I'll get used to it in fairly short order.

and g102/g203 vice versa got lower value(i.e 800 is more like 750)

but any decent gamer has a tape measure within reach of PC right? ))
