I would try something like the DPC Latency Checker and if it's running high try disabling things 1 by 1 in device manager till you find the culprit.

same here, I suspect it's the gfx card settings because if I switch from the nvidia card to the integrated intel card it works fine. should probably get round to fixin it one of these daze

"Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames" turn that to minimum possible in the nvidia control panel.

Still using the same mouse and monitor, and always had pre rendered frames on 1.

DPC latency idles around 20 to 40 and can bump to 80 so nothing wrong there either i think...

Had the same problem when I got a gtx 1080. Lower maximum prerendered frames to 1 and make sure DSR is off Also put 'no scaling' on resolution settings

srsly tho, try to boot on a live linux distro and see if you have the same problem
-> if not : it's some Windows setting -> try MarkC mousefix
-> if yes : hardware -> try disabling XHCI in BIOS

Funny my new 4k monitor just arrived, just installed it and I got it stuttering and laggy too, running gtx 1070 3840 x 2160.

If I get to the bottom of it I will post, its going back if this is how it is, even the video looks stuttery.

Ok pretty sure I fixed it.

I was using the DVI cable from my old rz2233, it was locked at 29 or 30hz which can you check via right click desktop, screen rez, advanced, select monitor tab and make sure its on at least 60hz.

I just used the display port cable which came with it and the hz doubled to 60.

I been used to 120hz for years in games and desktop so this is never going to look smooth in comparison. This might be the issue you expereince?

it does has freesync, but given I have an nvidia card I'm guessing its not going to work.

For now I am quite happy. Moving up from 22 inch to 28 feels very odd. Gonna play around with calibration stuff and I guess try and get used to it.

Biggest gains so far have come from ENABLING windows Aero Theme, I usually turn this stuff off in options, but right click desktop, personalize, click the windows 7 aero theme (or equiv) and I noticed a big change.

If you've got it disabled on your PC from the old windows knowledge of turning needless shit off, you might want to think about re-enabling it.

Its cured a lot of the screen tearing I was getting and things look better too.

Apparently a variation of Freesync works with nvidia but not properly.

This. Windows Aero (dwm) improved how Windows handles desktop graphics, so it's advisable to use it.

Try forcing gpu to not go into idle.

Have you checked your mouse pooling rate and the stability of it?

Either a GPU problem or a motherboard problem. I would send back both and get another brand of both.

try humanbenchmark reaction test, should get less than 200ms reaction time, this will rule out any input lag. assuming u get sub 200ms then look into gpu settings for the smoothing feel you describe. always use usb 2.0 port. windows sens slider on 6/11 and enhance pointer unchecked. report back ))

im getting around 190 so i guess its not a input lag problem but more of a smoothed muddy mousecontrol, did what you said its all the same still.

these "mousefixes" does not do anything at all in my experience, those only really worked in winxp.

back in a days when i just bought my abussys i got imressivly resposive controll over a mouse i start using realy low sensitivity and remove all possible accel from config and windows. Any mouse move was end up where i was expect it to stop it was pleassure to play. i dont remember for how long i was playing like that, but i remember that everything is gone in one day... i got this smoothed or delayed feels over a mouse controll and i wasnt able to fix it over a year of tryes... All possible software fixes, glide changing, mouse pad changing but nothing helps. and other mouse i tryed was even wors...

I honestly think some of it can be attributed to your bone structure. I noticed when i was grinding quake i could crack my bones and it would hurt (but not sharp pain) and i could feel the bone structure of my shoulders changing ever so slightly. Eventually when i was at my peak aim, i could no longer crack my shoulders because my bone structure was perfect and i would never get that bad tracking feeling with the lg where your aim feels on but you just miss everything.

if you have resolution set to 'desktop' (r_mode -2)
try r_mode -1 and r_customwidth/r_customheight instead

Uninstall nvidia experience IF you have this. Also install nvidia inspector. Watch guide on how to configure this app to your games.

Those 2 things made all difference for me. The Microstutter/latency in mouse went away.

that's strange... a nano second or 2 is already pretty significant nowadays, getting it up to 20ms would suggest a huge flaw not a more efficient circuit.

I have a feeling that it might be related to your gpu (if you're an nvidia user)

Go to your Nvidia control panel > Manage 3D settings and set "Maximum pre-rendered frames' to 1.

It's apparantly notorious for causing input lag and mouse issues
