Ages have passed since the peaceable Melem learned to harness the Fathom Orb, imbuing themselves with a trace of its baleful energy to enable “Ghost Walk”—a momentary phase-shift into another dimension. Even when they were sieged by hulking, chitinous marauders, the Ghost Walk saved them as it had many times before. Then, the unthinkable: One of the attackers returned and breached the Orb. With no alternative, the Melem broke their inviolable law and sent their most skilled assassin to the Fathom Orb, not knowing whether she would survive, let alone how she might return.
Nyx takes a walk on the extradimensional side with her Ghost Walk active ability. Slipping momentarily out of the Dreamlands, Nyx is able to avoid incoming attacks, sneak around threats to get a better angle, or even perform a lethal telefrag when she rematerializes. Should she reenter the Dreamlands in the same physical space as an enemy player, she destroys them from the inside out in a gory spray. While Ghost Walking, Nyx is invisible and invulnerable to all damage.
When a jump is just a little too far, Nyx has the solution. Having mastered the art of wall jumping, Nyx can make contact with a wall midway through a jump and perform another jump, doubling her distance. She can even do this while Ghost Walking to move quickly and stealthily through her environment.
Ok this gave a little more hope, she only telefrags when she 'rematerializes', I thought she could run around in circles and kill everyone she touches. :d
yea, they should have made the invisibilty like in quake 3, so you can still barely see the enemy so you get harder to aimtrack or easier to make sneak attacks. Not completely hidden :S
You can predict. Her movement speed is still the same as i noticed. Better lose some hp and re engage the fight a few seconds later, then die instantly.
you can rj during a fight, you just need to know where to rj to and before milions of noobs finds out how to play this game you can rj as much as you can :)
For all the talking about how abilities won't be ultimates, this looks pretty OP.
She gets to completely turn a fight into her favor for free. Enemies have to run away or else they get telefragged or at best she gets a free rocket on them immediately after becoming visible. The funniest part is they show it against that scalebear character that has to run in a straight line at you to instagib you which looks like the easiest shit to avoid.
Hm the telefrag seems kind of lame. I'd rather see a big pop up if you come out of invis on top of someone - that's more of a fun thing than just instantly killing them.
I mean, the actual gameplay looks great in my opinion. But these champion abilities, especially the active ones, seem fucking dumb and/or game breaking.
In some past interview i heard there will be the classic quake modes without special abilities and other shit,so chill guys and play the game before going crazy :)
Man, it's been a while. The new alpha UT was fun for a few months back in 2015 but the more they work on it the worse it gets. At least this game doesn't look like a half assed effort from id. No, I don't like the whole hero thingy but it really is time for something fresh.
Iimprovements on graphics, its ok, not really amazing but okish, showing improvement from those first videos. But im more concerned about the community structure, starting with the ladders. I think a ladder system should be implemented into the client and also the possibility to play that "classic mode" without any abilities or MOBA shite :D
Who are the people commenting in this thread? Have you ever played a Quake game before? Do you not realize that literally every Quake game had an invisibility powerup?
been used in 4on4 tdm in quakeworld, (just one map have it) but respawn time is 5min, last 30 sec. And you can still see the eyes so not 100% invisibilty. Quad is a much better powerup realy
does that invisbility powerup also let you instagib people telefrag style? Invisibility isn't much of a problem by itself, telefrags aren't much of a problem by themselves. Put them together and I see something that's tough to balance properly if at all.
Yes but, invisibility you can still see the traces of the enemy, somehow I think this is not the case here, also the abiltiy should be like a MOBA style ability, to use 3-4 times in the game with 2sec duration and seeing the trace, or at least when they activate it they could go only in one direction, or while in "void" the champion can't jump, otherwise this is super OP, including telefrag, for example you are 200-200, this little champ turns on the ability and rematerialize's on your spot with 5hp.....that's cool...NOT, and the champ is invincible while in "void" ....talkin about OP'ing .....
I think if you are in void, red fog of death, or lava etc. you will die even with this powerup. But the telefrag with 1 hp vs 200/200 is indeed not a good direction. You can't even instakill someone in ql with a direct quad rocket hit (because quad only deal x3) with that stack. And if you follow someone through a teleport it is both 50/50 chance whos getting telefragged and you have really yourself to blame.
It's a telefrag, meaning you could get pwned by a 1 hp guy walking out a teleport. Same shit.
As far as the character trailer goes, she respawns and the guy just turns around and move slowly away, thet is just dumb.
How many times do you get in a spot that random guy drop from somewhere and you just react fast and kill them. I think same can be applied here, if this isn't something that lasts 20 seconds, she won't be able to run circles around you and you will still react.
What i'm missing is the real impact here. She shadow walks, she cannot be hit, okay, nobody sees her for 4 seconds, can't do anything with that really. It's like you have an ability but it's actually so short it's useless :)
and they all had model hacks back then,
I still knew using the invisibility ring didnt give you any advantage at all, they still saw you and attacked you on the spot ...
I will for sure never play a reinhardt like champion. I dont play overwatch just because you are expected to play these boring ass characters sometimes)
Overwatch is actually more fun than Quake Live now. And I have played quake for almost 2 decades. You just got to learn how they work and get experience with the game/maps/heroes.
But .. still excited!, its a new quake game , and they have all been very enjoyable when they have focused on Multiplayer. (Q4 raven didnt focus on MP)
However , i am sceptic because of DooM multiplayer, how would they ever think that buying weapons would be a good option, or that you have to reach a certain level to get a gun ? fing stupid . Its these decisions that makes me wonder how good are they actually at making decisions.
Looking forward to play Quake game with decent graphics since 1999 ! Q4 dont count, that was a clusterfudge from start to finish .
I like the dm6 remake(the similarities are enough, i dont want it to be the same), now remake q1dm4 q1dm3 q1dm2 q2dm1 ztn(Because all quake games need ztn, also nice to use as a reference)
I'm gonna keep an open mind and give this a shot, but they better get this ability stuff right. At least it's something new for quake and I haven't played WoW in like 12 years so it might be fun to play rogue, warrior, tank etc. again )))
graphics look pale dead and boring. basically unreal tournament 2004 style architecture with a bith of tryhard gothic elements cause it's quake. the dead body animation hitting the floor instantly in place also looks extremely dull and outdated.
Well a lot of players who tried QC say that Champions try to mimic physics and tricks from different Quake games.
Example: Anarki is going to have QW/CPM bunny-hopping, Nyx has Wall-Jump.
It is not hard to guess that other Champions may have double-jumps like in Q2 or UT, or crouchsliding like in Q4.
In other words ID is trying to bring every players from other afps games into one by giving them various champions with different abilities and tricks.
1 hero pick would make no sense with the philosophy they're approaching this game with. Moreover it would be very bad with the whole F2P-with-only-ranger model.
it's never really a level playing field, there's probably a nice little clique of people who have been playing it already, more so as it gets nearer release.
bet we'll still get the same set of "pros" at first because they've got months of practise over everyone else.
I believe Its from PAX Est, which is happening right now, and you can see Rapha and Evil playing, its hardly noticable, but theres a point where you can see a name pop up, and commentator mentions their names.
