Via HDMI you can not get 144Hz

HDMI does'nt have the bandwidth to handle uncompressed images above ultrawide and pushing the limits 60hz

displayport is made for computers and can handle 4k @ 144hz

What about DVI?
I used it at 120hz no problems with 2233rz.

You can't go much over 1080p with a dual-link DVI cable if you want that 120/144Hz refresh rate.

I calculated 4K @ 144Hz to require 35.83 Gbps. That wikipedia article says DisplayPort 1.3 is capable of 32.4 Gbps. :(

But so long as it is a standard DisplayPort cable, it should be fine.
I have a relatively cheap one and haven't had any problems with it.
Your milage may vary, but I don't think you need all that fancy gold shit.
I wouldn't buy the cheapest or the most expensive. Look for something VESA certified.
You just have to make sure the cable has the right connector types at each end, which can be standard or mini.

However, considering that the LG 24GM77-B does not support resolutions above 1080p anyway, your current dual-link DVI cable (or the one the new monitor comes with) will probably do the job.

If you're talking about the LG 24GM77-B that OP mentioned, it doesn't support 4K anyway. Maximum resolution appears to be 1920x1080.

bought last week the Samsung C24FG70FQU and run it with DisplayPort. Both HDMI and DP Cable where includet. Minidisplayport adapter not inclusiv.. run it on Notebook.

The Samsung may be better at the same price with the cable inclusiv...

i like the samsung alot...dont realy know about imputlag.

was in a store and they showed it with an pc connectet and an 3d room where u can move and look with mouseview, so i could see it in "Reallife".

i think we cant give u there an advise... just buy some and if its not work give it back.. my displayport to miniDisplayport adapter (15€) is from Hama.. had no choice in the shop... it was the only thing.. so simple it can be ;)

Any DisplayPort cable is fine really no matter the price as long its up to 2m. Its a digital output which means no quality reduction whatsoever.

On top of that, there is no such thing as a DP 1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3 cable.

I dont think there is any latency difference for gaming, at least perceptible.

The only reason that comes to mind convenience-wise is that DP carries audio along with video data so if your monitor has integrated speakers or 3.5mm headphones... that and the fact DVI is nothing but a legacy interface at this point. The latest GTX 1080ti comes without DVI port.

there is such a thing as version cables, for more bandwidth, you need more threads of copper, the more copper you have the stronger the EM field is, so then you need shielding or other cables can interfere with data flow
