All those active adapters converting a digital signal to analog VGA are gonna introduce lag at the very least, and avoiding lag is one of the main reasons to use a CRT.

I guess video quality will depend on the quality of the adapter. This one seems to have good reviews:

160hz/no motion blur is pretty good as long as the lag is minimal

It seems to be pretty hard to find measurements of how much lag these adapters actually add, probably because people concerned about lag would be avoiding them in the first place.

I guess you're just gonna have to use trial and error. :(
