I hope the unlagged limit isn't higher. The last thing I want is to get railed a day after I've ducked behind a corner. It totally messes up synchronicity in all kinds of dodging. 80ms is more than enough.

Yes but any competitive game which wishes to be a huge esports needs to have a pretty decent delag limit tbh. Otherwise players are restricted to playin in just 1-2 servers with 5-6 familiar names and no one likes that. I also get annoyed when I get shot behind a corner yes, but I know that the person shot me when I was visible, gotta trust the game code. I hope for the sake of quake as an esports that it's higher.

Are you serious? The fact that he has 200 ping is not my problem. I dodged his shot correctly. I should not get hit. He is further out of sync with the server view of the game world because of his lag. I should not be brought back in time by 200ms every time he fires a hitscan weapon.

"Unlagging" doesn't get rid of lag; it just changes the side effects and WHO has to pay for the lag. That's why all serious competition is done on LAN, which changes things dramatically.

80ms worth of "unlagging" is more than enough, especially in a fast-paced game where you can move a fair distance in that amount of time.

If someone can't handle only playing on his local servers because he is seeing the same names all the time, then the trade-off is putting up with a bit more lag and not punishing people on their local server for his choices.

What u think doesn't matter. Famous competitive esports in this day and age should have a decent netcode and delag limit of 55 ms(25ms is interpolation delay) is nowhere near decent for today's standards.

This has NOTHING to do with "esports"; any real esport event will not be played with such high levels of lag. Those conditions DESTROY the skill aspect of the game and turn it into a lagfest for EVERYONE, not just the guy with the high ping.

This is just about some people whining that they've got the equivalent of a 1994 internet connection. Even with Australia's shitty internet, I can connect anywhere within a 3,500km radius and not have to worry about pings greater than 80ms, so you are totally overstating the need for such levels of unlagging.

If anything, today's standards regarding lag have increased, so people are less likely to put up with BS caused by SOMEONE ELSE's lag. You think it is fair, but it is not fair. Your lag, your problem. You don't invade some far off server and expect everyone to suffer to accommodate you.

You can turn off the evil interpolation delay with timenudge (or whatever equivalent QC has) if you want, and then you can realize what it is there for: having smooth (and accurate) player animation.

Well anyways, I think QC does have a better netcode and higher limit according to one of my friends who got the key. It maybe wrong however as I didn't get the key so I didn't see for myself. To be honest, i'd be shocked if it didn't. Maybe I can play on Australian servers now(got a lot of Australian friends from quake 3 :) )

But in general, having to put up with not only your own lag but also the lag of any idiot who feels himself entitled to join your server from the other side of the world is quite infuriating.

if it was higher than ql's, they probably lowered it in last patch, since when I have now more than 65, it has a drastic negative effect in my acc. Actually, it might be exactly 65, because after that the game seems to play completely differently.

I am now looking together with my ISP how to bring the ping below 60, which looks to be very playable as it is right now. if I can't, will either change ISP and pay a penalty or stop playing QC.
