QC duel certainly hasn't taken the place of QL duel...yet

Even in it's current for it will for sure. Just wait for tournament's to start and all the pros to play it, followed by the good players, followed by the masses. It is massively new, it has good gfx, it maybe will be supported by id/zenimax, it is fresh and while still quake - it does have trending things like customization of the look/weaps and diff champs. Sadly as I am sure we won't get forceenemy model/color. :)

That may be so, but it still will be a snoozefest to watch.

And the masses don't care what the pros play. They'll just play what they like as they have always done.

It's the pros that need to play what the masses play for a successful "esport".

Masses will try and play only the new quake. What % of them will stick to it is another question.

Who knows. The masses are fickle. :D
