This open beta is quite different than the older ones in the sense that I see bigger scores in FFAs so actually something is happening with all those QL idiots who turned to QC now, shouting in packs how they want everything nerfed down so they can play QL again with a new code inside, everything just like QL. And if then casuals get crushed by these egomaniacs they act like "leet" "me bored" and the idiots already started to use gauntlet+fast chars to own noobs. You've been able to this with every single game for over 10 years through your nvidia settings by playing around with the Level of Detail BIAS, so not a "hidden feature".

the problem is that so many of you have 0 computer knowledge. if you dont have nvidia drivers or control panel your machine is going to run like ass. so to call this unfair is delusional. If you cant see through walls then its all fair and reasonable; live and let live.

This probably explains why some players have been landing the most insane shots against me on levels in places I can hardly see them on. Just their accuracy in combination with their reaction time (and normal ability elsewhere) felt very sinister.

Maybe idsoftware could implement some kind of opponents screenshot system, so the game takes a screen shot of the opponents screen at a defined spawn point and does the same for yours vs theirs comparison which both players can see in the warmup.

They could also kick these users automatically by simply comparing the LOD on the two images. Or, apply some kind of balancing feature where if the game reports a viz hack, it reduces their health and armour by 50%. That would make them think twice without banning them.

It would be a nice introduction for Orbb too. Make him like the snitch of the arena so it doesn't feel like a human is playing god.

Personally, I think if they reduced the damage on the railgun, it would improve the game all round too.

It would increase the incentive for close to the mid range combat, and take it away from distance based combat where some players are abusing a single game mechanic to great effect.

ATM there is way too much incentive for using the RG.

As for duel, if they insist of keeping it this way, we need to lock to the abilities down to one use per character. Or, even once per round.

Personally, I think they should change the current duel mode to "ELIMINATION" and just give us a duel mode which is closer to how things were.

if you could be sure everyone is seeing the same stuff then its all relative, the problem with any game is, its really hard to go backwards in speed because players feel you are stunting their growth and resent the dev, as you are now.

That time has now gotten higher/slower in champs due to the graphics and lack of high viz/forcemodel, so we've essentially been taken backwards on a core aspect so the dev can show you their pretty graphics.

That would be "okish" is they could enforce this via menu which I'm a fan off as I think the whole quake config thing got out of hand, but with 3rd party apps like this, they've actually made it possible to cheat without detection!

Wow sorry but you're a but misinformed here. At least 90% of CSGO pro's use 4:3 res. It produces a different FOV than with 16:9 res. Some of them alsos use stretched instead of black bars, which makes models larger.

What you need to do is get on some really dodgy internet, maybe some weak 3g or crap wifi, and then fire up QC and select Anarki. :D

Anarki is already unfair IMO he just looks out of place in duel.

He's insanely powerful off the spawn, within seconds he can be over you like a rash with a decent weapon, a major item, re-gen for backup and hard to hit. That's one serious force to have coming at you within 10 seconds of a duel starting.

His sound effect is not much of a disadvantage as the speed he moves and the lack of acoustic precision in this game over other versions mean audio does not play as big a part as it did in other versions of quake.

Yeah, Anarki is on my most hated list for sure. He is the best champ in combination with dodgy net.

Sound in this game is worthless. Everything sounds like it is underwater. In modes with more than two players, you never even know when someone is behind you. They can even be shooting you, and you often don't know unless you're looking at your HP. Does Anarki even make any "footsteps" at all?

I do think rockets are the way to go vs Anarkis; LG can be a big risk. k1llsen almost got him. :D

LG range is fine. It is the same as QL, and the weapon balance hasn't changed that much---it's almost a copy and paste job. A bit more knockback could help, but people are already complaining about the knockback as it is.

The only people I see really wanting longer LG range are duelers upset by the dominance of rail in duel, but that's a problem with the new duel mode, not the weapon balance.

i play ql at maxed out GFX with everything pretty much standard (with all effects etc)

i play reflex at lowest or "short" but with default weapons settings (with bobbing etc), didn't try maxed out GFX, cause i'm not sure i'll get 144fps stable on any map with 8+ players. Maybe one day i'll try that, if i can play reflex at maxed out GFX and get stable 144fps, i'll definitely do that.

i want beautiful GFX; picmip and removing all the effects are from the past, it's only for nerdz. We are now in 2017, we have to change our elitist and "nerdy" mentality. Console not needed, picmip not needed; low settings needed BUT not for visibility, just for higher and more stable FPS on lower-middle end PCs.

only things that matter are the sensitivity, the fov, and the crosshair. The rest are gimmicks.

look, i was the biggest config nerd, i even thought that changing every single config detail could give me an edge over my opponent(s), it took me years and years to sharpen my config, i was so obsessed to get the best possible config that i even made many threads about it etc

after playing for prolly more than 1 month now with maxed out GFX and pretty much everything default when it comes to config visuals, all i have to say is that actually tweaking your cfg to death doesn't change the way you play

for some reason i even prefer my current config over my old and ugly one

i still think tho that having the ability to change your FOV and crosshair is important, and needed in every competitive FPS game. And obviously, needless to say, your sensitivity.

i see no point anymore of making your config look like lego or "ultra flat" quake. Ofc every competitive FPS game MUST have configurable details level at the ingame menu, things that you can set to LOW or ULTRA, but even if you set it to LOW it won't give you a visibility advantage but only a FPS boost.

so, to summarize, most important things are FPS / monitor refresh rate / mouse's sensitivity / FOV / crosshair / outlines around the enemy-friendly models or any way to make them visible enough / minimum configurable GFX settings at ingame menu (like for example in overwatch or reflex) ; the rest are GIMMICKS for nerdz.

TL;DR version: You have to play to get good at the game.

So, like you told us ESR nerdz before, time to uninstall QL already and start grinding QC like you do 2v2 CA and prove it.

still playing on 1600dpi 1000hz tho, and ofc my sens is the same in all FPS game i play/used to play, like overwatch, reflex and ofc quake champions (sensitivity 0.4 @ QC = sensitivity 2 @ QL)

i'm happy also that they made lower FOV available in QC (it's now from 100 to 130 instead of from 110 to 130), means that i can now play QC at FOV 90 (106 @ QC = 90 @ QL/RFLX/OW)

preview lower FOV @ QC which was 110 was in reality the equivalent of FOV ~95 in other FPS i play/used to play)
