Yeah. I tried with three different mice. G403, FK2 zowie, and some generic mouse from a random company. They all behaved the same.

Tried them on other pcs. And the problem was not there.

How about some more info? Are you using any mouse drivers, either official or povahat, whats your OS, have you tried using different USB ports etc...

I actually tried all my usb ports immediately I knew I had this problem. This was my first suspicion, but since some guy on a website for tech support said usb ports either fail or work; I figured it couldn't be them. Tried them all and they all behaved the same. Tried all 10 of them.

I uninstalled all my drivers. Then got some auto downloaded windows driver to make sure I could even use the mouse to get me around

One time I opened quake, the "drifting" disappeared for a few minutes. Then when I tabbed out and in, it came back. (note: some places they call drifting when the cursor is moving without your hand moving, the term is mistaken many times; I described it in op)

I vaguely remember people having all sorts of tracking issues on Win10, I dont use malware so I wouldn't know myself. Maybe it would help to (un)install some of the win updates that were supposed to fix these problems.
Besides that, format c and a fresh os install is always a safe bet.

I feel it has to be windows 10. I am scared there is nothing I can do.

Try a different mousepad, try without mousepad. Could be due to the direction of the fabric on the pad surface?

I tried 2 different pads. Nothing changed. Also tried rotating the pads 90 and 180 degrees to see if it was the pattern that did it. No change. :/

Checked usb polling rate? Could be unstable.

Might be a broken motherboard. Have you tried updating your mobo drivers or reformatting? I had a USB issue with my keyboard and eventually, after trying everything I ended up buying a new motherboard which fixed the problem. Up until then I always bought the cheapest mobo possible for my CPU but from now I'm going to invest a little more in a quality board.

Interesting because I have seen other people also say that new mobo fixed the problem.

This is the first time I've heard that there are computers without this issue.

I've tried 4 mice, all had the same problem, but on two different computers. Went through different OS as well (win7, win10, ubuntu).

Is this really fixable by buying a new computer? I always thought this was a sensor issue.

edit: just checked, problem persists since 2012, actually _six_ different mice now. Whatever I said about the abyssus not having the issue was placebo, it was still there. Just when you thought that the PMW-3366 was the end of all possible real world advancements in mice tech.

So I guess I have to stop thinking about this issue again.

it's weird though, how in the video it also shows dragging although the sensor's angle doesn't appear to get changed.

btw - is the 336x really any better than the older sensors? Thinking about getting a new mouse..

The 336x is pretty much the perfect sensor.
Feels snappy, low LOD and tracks at any speed a human can move the mouse.

I don't recommend unless mid or low sensitivity. There are quite some people who say its bad for small adjustments, but also many who say its bullshit. So guess its about sensitivity in game. Most people sensitivity is just low enough i guess.

Circle drift is a real issue with a lot of sensors. It's one of the metrics to measure the performance of a sensor. But I'm sure it can be caused by other things than the sensor. Maybe just the surface you're using. And of course, the accel... which is easy to forget about.

accel was the first thing I checked. After playing cs competitively I always made sure performance was perfect. However this problem seems unsolvable...
