I'm curious, has zoot said if will be making a real go at trying to be top level like evil/rapha/cypher/dahang/fraze (whatever you want to call the range that might contain players like those that I just listed) or are his real life obligations and such too time consuming? I'd enjoy cheering him if he were to actually desire and try to get as good as them, especially since he seems to like interacting with his audience.

It's not like I hate zoot or something, but as far as I know, he hasn't ever been at the tippy-top player level and thus, 'no chance' to win that tournament. None-the-less, he has provided countless hours of entertainment over the years to myself and many others free of charge and it could fun if he found the time to give it a real shot.

He has been practicing quite a bit, and I think he will continue to stream this week.

however he did start a new job as of today so I guess he will only be able to put hours in the evening. But yea, he is signed up for the ESL qualifier so who knows.

Yes qc is laggy and horribly bad optimized, bit it is the next gen quake and we need to support it, it was so refreshing watching pro vs pro tournament on qc, not knowing the result before the match started like we do in ql .

It also especially now in the beginning have funny incidents and great combos .

It will be optimized and improved folks, they are just behins schedule without actually acting like it .

I had my reservations but it was a pretty awesome tournament. Was nice to see some creative play and using different champions from Cypher!

Some games can be a bit too quick though. I'd also like to see Jamerios suggestion in another thread of disabling abilities in the last 30 seconds of a round.

With players capable of using their brain it is also pretty balanced so far, balanced enough that players skill is the deciding factor.

it seemed like anarki is a bit OP imo and that him together with Sorlag, BJ and Nyx are the top tier. But yes they are pretty balanced, since none was dominating. A small nerf to BJ and anarki and maybe a buff to clutch might make it perfectly balanced. I am not mentioning Sorlag and Nyx, since they might be irritating, but you can counter them easily if you play cleverly.

Much respect to cypher for trying other champions and strategies. The rest seemed like were playing CPM with anarki and sorlag.

Also, big kudos to zoot for playing and casting really well (even though he was also playing anarki)

yea, rapha might be 10 steps ahead in QC and he probably needs that to overcome the smaller skill gap (which translates to more luck) and the missing importance on map control. Agent seemed like is affected by the 2nd.

champions add an extra dimension to the game which I like and keeps the game interesting.

fazz is one of the best if not the best QC player currently

ofc cypher is still the best at duel but if you look at other gametypes too, fazz is more balanced

fazz is actually incredibly good at sacrifice etc too

Not to be a party pooper, but i think this cup wasn't in any way indicative of how the future rankings will be.

Neither Cypher nor Fazz showed anything particular. Respect to both, they're great players and played good, but i think they just managed to be in that spot more or less.

I'm in no way discrediting their stranghts, it's just that i think the usual suspects will raise once again and the top tier will be composed of simply the players that hits harder, old or new ones.

For now the situation is still too confused, but give some players the time to adapt to the game aim and it will be game over.

It's too damage oriented.

Congrats to Fazz and Cypher tho, being quick to adapt to something new is certainly a skill in itself.

Quake always was damage oriented. QL was the first less dmg game of the series and while it make it argubly "smarter gameplay to win" it was less fun to play and heavy aim still won big time. I am sure the likes of rapha will find a way to win vs the uber heavy aim based players like there where players that did it in any quake of the past.
