They should add Bright skins for all champions and tourneys/cups/lans should have rule, to forece you to use it. So everyone will be bright.

arent some shaders essentially bright skins? shame that atm you can only get them via drops, so tournaments can not force everyone to use them with the current system

yes I know, but etc in CSGO some skins are easy to get, like in 5 mins. ID should make GREEN skins easy to loot or buy on skin market for 1 dolla. problem solved.

This doesn't necessarily mean bright skins, more likely it literally just means blue and red variations. The question didn't even mention bright skins.

Even with bright skins it wouldn't be perfect.
There is so much shit going on on the screen.
At times all you can see is a dorito popup for a split second, otherwise you'd be clueless someone was in your sight.

The problem is most people don't care about vanity items, they pick the most effective skins which make them harder to hit on the levels.
They might not on day one when everyone sucks, but sooner or later, they will care about winning, or being more effective and you quickly realize, a bright green costume with a neon sign on the back isn't going to do you any favours.

The loot box side of the game is mostly useless, its just stuff you don't care about or want or need.

They would be better stuffing those boxes with game commands which open the game up more, perhaps better search options, new maps, or the ability to set individual FOV commands for weapons etc, i.e. something which is going to translate to improving your game to the experience so they can keep the initial game simple from a gui pov, and open it up over time as a player gets more advanced.

If you dangle a gold bar or a carrot in front of a mule, it'll go for the carrot every time. Know your audience!

Unfortunately vanity items DO matter and can even be a deciding factor in a game becoming popular.

They do matter when they do matter.
They don't matter when it's just different shade of grey.

This game ain't getting popular. id are entering a world they have little idea about and doing it badly.

I'm actually ok with the current skins, don't necessarily need bright skins anymore. Forcing team colors, fixing hitboxes and reducing overall visual effects would probably work well in this game. After 20 years of looking at bright colors I welcome this change.

How about the outlines that reflex had? They can mess about with the subtelty then until they find something that woirks but isn't too bright

Bright skins aside, I think this game could definitely benefit from toning down a lot of the effects. There are whole seconds, or longer, when I have no clue what I'm even looking at.

Probably Ranger's shit, Sorlag's spit, and the LG are the worst offenders. I don't see throwing dirt in your opponent's eyes as a Quake tactic.

And let's make projectiles visible so that dodging can be a thing again. It would help with aiming too. WTF is the tribolt. Make those punji sticks visible, or all you have is randomness.

Winning or losing based on which hero you played as was never part of Quake either, but... Give it time, these guys will figure out a way to take Quake down another couple notches.

Custom Game??? Bright Skins and Team Colors is a must have in every Quake match and not an option.
