Those 100k are more like 60k. A regular salary, and not exactly one million dollars.

Rapha is doing what he should do, which is preserving alternatives to do something after winning those 60k. After all competitors have short careers and games usually have short competitive life spans. Rapha won't be winning Quake tournaments when he is 35, because he'll be too old and Quake will likely go back to giving peanuts as prize money. He needs to do more stuff than playing Quake, so he streams and plays OW.

Not true (unless you're confusing prize money with gambling payouts), the American government will deduct taxes from your prize money therefore anyone residing in the UK receiving money from Esports tournaments in the US will be taxed.

Prize money from tournaments hosted here in the UK will be subject to standard PAYE tax rates, though if done properly you will be able to deduct expenses (computer equipment/travel/hotels/etc) to lessen this.

In Europe there are varying tax arrangements with the US, in some countries players can be double taxed on winnings.

For team based games with multiple players it's more financially beneficial to create a registered company which employs everyone to break up tax in a more efficient manner.

I think evils strengths and weaknesses transfer badly to QC. He should be able to transfer his beast aim tho, so im not ruling him out from a successful Quakecon participation

It definitely was, the game literally had to be played at a much slower pace because of the set speed.

Perhaps, I can't see why that would be the case though, if it's advantageous to rush players will do so. Besides the Tox v Xron series and considering the map sizes I think all the games I've seen have been very well paced and faster than your average QL duel that isn't on a small clustered map.

I don't really understand any of the weapons changes to comment on whether or not rail is OP now.

No one has a higher base speed than that in QC. There is no cap on strafe jumping speed in QL like there is in QC either.

There are some passives, as well as RJing, that let you exceed the speed cap in QC, which calls into question the need for it in the first place, like it is trying to punish only strafe jumpers.

Running around Bloodrun in QC feels like slow motion. The map feels twice the size.

So if QC duels are faster (I don't think they are in terms of average frags per minute), then I don't think it is because of movement speed. I don't think the abilities encourage aggression either. Offensive abilities like acid spit, bull rush, and dire orb make you want to keep your distance because you can't dodge those reliably, and defensive abilities like injection and ghostwalk are often used for running away.

I think the only thing that could be helping to speed up QC duel is the lack of significant map control since mega and heavy armour don't do as much for your stack.

Anarki's speed is capped at 600ups. You can exceed that in two jumps in QL. His advantage is just the air control, making him nimble around corners. His acceleration is faster too. Of course, he can use rockets or whatever to boost himself faster than the cap.

It's probably the air control around corners that makes it feel faster then, I mean I imagine it IS faster, not per UPS but getting from A to B across a map with turns

Yeah, it depends on the route. With lots of turns, Anarki will be quicker.

He might the fastest champ average across all routes. Clutch might now be giving him a run for his money though.

I said it was his worst, it doesn't matter how good you are there's always a point of your game that's worse than the others. Obviously.

His recklessness was what made him #1 in europe. It even made him beat rapha initially who wasnt prepared for this style. All that at a final of a major ql event.

evil probably realized that a quake where LG is weaker and aim > strat is cancer for him.

lg might indeed effected him, since it is much weaker than q3 or ql

clawz seemed really strong to me, probably stronger than tox
