I think I can get behind the champions and their abilities and such. It can be fun and interesting. However the problem is these fucking modes.

They are pure shit. If i were the head of quake champions i'd give players the ability to spawn custom modes and tweak shit and try to get someone to create a super fun mod like how counterstrike came out of half life thanks to some asian kid.

Then i'd just steal the mod idea and make it the main game mode for quake champions.

Quite an interesting comment. I too am often in the fuck the USA camp I guess but I never understand the constant bashing of USA players here especially when they are quite successful in the end. I mean... rapha, Dahang, Zero4, czm, the country has proven many time to host geniuses of Quake and strong players overall.

So, basically americans are often considered as arrogant pricks full of their USA superiority and so on but with this kind of useless agressive comment it actually make them sympathetic.

Did you see the qualifiers or not? I am talking about facts, both here and in QL they were far away from EU, with very few exceptions.

Talking completely out of my ass, it always seemed like NA v NA games were a tad slower than EU v EU games in online tournaments over the years. NA players seem to focus more on raw aim when they go head to head as opposed to moving / dodging quickly that it seems like EU players do more so of when playing each other. Come LAN it seems like this all goes out the window especially when playing each other, though I think you are certainly right in EU dominating the majority of top tier competition, however when it comes to winners you are going 50 / 50 in quake.

see for yourself with the vods. to me the US stream uses a lower fov (a bit too low, but at least not the insanly high "can't see shit but it feels fast eh" EU one. they also have way better casters, but that's another matter)

Yes, the high ping player overall is far more disadvantaged, because you are playing an 'action' twitch based FPS and the high ping player is perceiving everything 200ms slower than the other player.

You can tell from watching the game that Dan's reactions to the opponent coming around a corner are far slower than normal, this is a massive disadvantage. Projectile weapons also almost impossible to hit and projectiles are a critical part of Quake dueling.

If you lose to someone with high ping, they beat you while being disadvantaged. You should never lose to someone on high ping if you are the better player.

'twas GGs all around, but his hitscan was largely unaffected because his shots were not registering with a 200ms delay. Play some high ping QC yourself, I know it got my interest playing him. It's very playable on high ping.

I've played plenty of high ping, we didn't have any Australian servers in the early beta stages.

If you think he wasn't disadvantaged why didn't you opt to play a map on Sydney servers so he gets 30 ping and you get 250? That would have been the fair way to play.

I didn't make the rules of the tournament, I simply played. I'm queueing all over the planet now tho so perhaps we can get that game afterall!

With high ping you cannot defend against a good LG user. That alone makes QC unplayable with 100+ ping, on a competitive level.

It's absurd anyone has to be qualifying on such high ping in the first place IMO. Pretty impressive he pulled it off.

At 200+ ping, the high pinger has the disadvantage still. He loses race conditions, has larger prediction errors, and his projectiles won't work very well.

He can however charge around corners and see the enemy long before the enemy sees him and can shoot players long after they have taken cover on their screen. But the low pinger can do that to him too.

Only a lot of warp could make up for that. But we probably warp more on the dodgy Australian servers than on the American ones. :D

My view is that proper skill comparison cannot take place when players are so far out of sync because they are playing a different game, in more sense than one. Playing around the lag and around the netcode becomes part of the game. But I'd still rather be the guy with low ping.
