In duel, there are 12 from NA, 12 from EU, and 8 from the BYOC. That creates a 32 player duel tournament at Quakecon from which the top 8 get payouts.

Yeah, I remembered that too, but it appears to be contradicted in the rulebook, which I'm guessing is the wrong one.
