I have a feeling that these certain nerfs are born from a compromise decision. I assume they don't want to change too much about the movement now, since the Quakecon is around the corner.

Anyway, I changed my mind about this, let's give it a try. I just hope it will result in a good hero balance. Because if they aren't 100% sure about the nerfs and its effects, they should consider removing him from the game. Still better than having one single OP hero.

They can't be 100% sure about the changes, how can anyone be? Good judgement, time and developing trends of players is the best indication of balance. As long as they don't overreact with premature changes for champions and take their time in making decisions for balance on solid observations, I think it's going to be fine and so far it looks promising.

I am excited for the possibilities of future champions, even for existing ones to develop overtime. As for Clutch, damn his movement is beautiful if you control it perfectly, have you seen how WichtL moves with Clutch? It's jaw-dropping good. I'm happy they haven't touched his movement, because it's truly unique among any champion, the rest of his attributes not so much.

I wouldn't say the changes are big, slight nerf on clutch which is sorely needed, and then just bug fixing.

I probably hate Clutch more than anyone else, and of course love to see him get nerfed, and I agree with all changes made, but I think it's a weird timing for it too.

Frist of all, I don't think the nerf to Clutch is a minor one. While he is still able to fly around in rediculous fashion, the 3 nerfs together are a big nerf in total imo.

Secondly, players who have been playing a lot of Clutch up until now have built their game around it, and everyone had the chance to do so, especially since a few weeks ago it was announced I believe by Syncerror that there were no changes coming to clutch any time soon.

Now suddenly they announce changes right before an important tournament, and even right now it's not confirmed but just rumors afaik. Now some players who have to play the regional finals in a few days suddenly get nerfed, and others who have chosen to ignore clutch are in a better position.

I think it would be better to postpone the nerf until after the regional finals. But since it's probably not going to happen then I really hope for fairness' sake (not that id software gives a shit about fair competition atm) that they make the official changes known ASAP.

Yeah, our team spent an entire month on clutch for sacrifice. Now he's essentially being deleted from the game days before the regional LAN when players will be traveling and can't practice.

I thought there would be a minor nerf strictly to offset the shield bug fix. Instead he's just going to be back to the old clutch in terms of relevance (at least in sacrifice, which is what I care about).

He will be impossible to miss on LAN with his hitboxes, and with 100 health + dire orb telefragging him very often when he ults he's just gone from the game at this point.

Just wish there was more transparency with upcoming changes so players can prepare for drastic champion updates.

Clutch used to take 20% reduced damage when walking or standing still. He no longer does.

Cooldown on Clutch shield is now 40 seconds as opposed to 30 seconds.

Clutch takes 20% reduced armor when standing still, guess that is now pointless what with him flying all over the place.
And increased cooldown of his shield ability to 40 seconds seems good.

Yes, double elimination. Draws were random, based on seeding from which week the players were qualified. They were drawing 1st week vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd week qualifiers.

Really horrible format imo, if they're doing it online in stead of LAN anyway, why not spread it out over a few days and make it groups or something.

Clutch shouldn't be able to see Nyx though the shield, She needs invis to get away from this monster. Even in the lore when she uses ghost walk she phases to another dimension and doesn't make sense that the shield would allow him to see her.

And note that hardly anyone complains about the change per se, but about the timing. It was said by an official source (sync?) some time ago that no changes would be made to the champion in the near future (or whatever the wording was), which any sane person would have interpreted as "until quakecon is over".

Pretty sure plenty of good players lost to a clutch, who might have otherwise qualified if he was not OP.

IMO the players who came close but did not make it have at least equal rights to be peed off about the changes, as the changes admit what we all knew within days or hours of clutch coming out.

Bad argument, if top players go to LB in the first round they will be matched against other tops pretty quickly too.

You see the prizepool, the regional online and offline qualifiers and you think "ok, Quake is maybe going somewhere as an esport this time".

But then you see the seeding (or lack of) and the last minute major update and you're brutally reminded that the people in charge are and have always been absolute morons (hi Syncerrror)

Drawing based on qualification date is the same kind of bullshit as drawing based on in-game level. But okay, we know it's id software - they can't do anything without some idiot decision that fucks things up and the only right way to deal with it is to change it to one that makes sense, but they will do everything to defend their bullshit and hate ESR for being too negative.

For seedign they could have include both qualification time if they wanted it so badly and previous results, say only on Quakecon for clarity. Eg. 20-15-10-5 for qualifying time and then get the highest QCon placement of all players that are in regionals, order descendin and say +10 for top 4 qualified players by their QCon result, next 4 +6, next 4 +4...
Then sort players by their points, cut in 4 pieces and you got four seeding groups.
