Full customization planned, and I mean that quite literally. Has to look a bit flashy for the average viewer to pay attention & take it seriously, but this isn't how it would look for most people playing competitively. Also, since it's just a teaser trailer it's flicking through a lot of snippets. Whilst playing it's quite straight forward visually, even with the "movie" settings.

Feel like I've dreamt playing ctf in a game that looked just like this.

Nice concept, too bad new generation of players cant handle hardcore arena fps games anymore and it will likely share the fate of other titles in the genre ending up with 10 ppl player base. Remember Wickland for example, some of u might laugh but actually that fpsarena had a good concept aswell. Or even simplier example Reflex. Awesome game with more marketing and overall hype around it, but unfortunatelly online activity there is 100x times lower then it deserves.

Is there going to be instagib mode?

If anything, i would suggest including insta and zeroping/unlagged netcode for hitscan weapons. Noticed a tendency that pretty solid list of newcomers or ppl who arent that much into arenafps tend to stick to igib and also highpingers usually base their choice of the game by the fact where their ping hinders them less.
That way you would gather atleast two groups of target audience allready. And later on those instagibbers might slowly move towards NW and more competitive gametypes

There will be an instagib mode, with a slight twist because it will be using the ricochet railgun (which can "charge" to allow the beam to reflect off walls).

That's the basic goal, to address different audiences with various casual/competitive game modes, but which all use the same underlying movement system and mechanics. So that hopefully, as you said, people will play the niche game modes and gravitate to playing competitively.

I think a problem with many other arena FPSs is that they try to force a competitive game, they focus on it, and end up appealing to the handful of existing competitive AFPS players. I think most successful competitive games began a little more relaxed, and as people improved and took it more seriously, the competitive side evolved itself rather than being forced upon them by the developer.
