Had MX518 for 6 years. The best mouse I've ever had. Never had any faults.

the mx518 was all I used to to use from like 2003-2010, great mouse and more reliable than others (the leads would only break every year or so as oppose to 6 months)

Same. A couple years back one our biggest retail shops had a full basket of MX518 for like 14.99 Euro/piece , but I've decided to finally change mice and bought a G9. Worst decision of my life. Should've bought the whole basket.

edit: although I have a MX500 in full working condition. bought it in a pawn shop in Tennessee for like 5 bucks.

Same, but you need to get the G 403, nearly identical, but latest tech and a great sensor.

I think the only thing which will make me change now, is something radical.

Gaming mice have pretty much hit a limit IMO.

They've milked the DPI, Polling rate, weight, shape, sensor, LED thing.

I would like to see a mouse which offers me a more consistent surface for play on, hot swap base plate or something, built in microfan which can keep hand cool, possibly some kind of on screen alarm for clogged mouse senosor if it detects there is dirt, or a hair in the way etc, that sort of analysis would be the only thing they can milk IMO, but that's really pushing it and thinking of ways for the sake of doing so.

If I could only use this mouse for life, I would give zero fucks.

I have G402. The only problems I have with this mouse is that it has useless "sniper mode" button which is pretty much unreachable unless u're holding it with a claw grip. And the second problem is that it has DPI changing buttons installed right into mouse1. Like who the fuck would do that ;( This costs me a couple of deaths/missed frags a week.

Put a loop in the cable then tape the cable to edge of desk, my g400 survived for 2 years, and g400s for...(still alive) but using G403 now.

How is the g403 shell compared to the g400 one? Can you play at 400 dpi out of the box with the g403?

Looking at them from the side the curve is quite similar, but the actual sides are quite different, particularly the left side does not have the shape to fit thumb. I've adapted to it, but it depends entirely how you hold the G400 as to whether you can adapt easily.
400 800 1600 3200 are default at 1000Hz, but best to install software and set what steps you want to the onboard memory and uninstall if u prefer. I have 400/800dpi steps, 500Hz.

Thumb felt a bit confused at first and involuntary clicks happened but I've adapted fairly quickly I guess. That sensor though.. it might take decades. I have a hard time believing that it is the sensor which is praised by everyone o_O

What don't you like about the sensor? What pad and dpi you running?

400 on a QcK Heavy, sensor feels like a laser one with m_filter on to help you get a fake steady aim

hmm that's strange, I have same setup. Did you do the surface tuning? (i didn't, and i run 500Hz)

I haven't but I guess it wouldn't change much, that type of sensors is just not my thing

Buy new cords, tend to be rather cheap. Bought a couple from Hong Kong and I think they were like 5usd a piece including postage. Remember to order skates at the same time :)
