This. Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator are considered very very good games, liked also by non-simulator people. QC simply doesn't hold a candle against them.
Its because the abilities, people wanted a more classic quake. If that woulb be the case the game would be top 10! Trust me! Quake is the only game ive played in my life!
pros wouldnt have left quake live, if the prize moneys werent such a joke to begin with. they'll all be gone in a year or two again, when the prize moneys will be back to 500$ for rank 1.
So why do you think QL prize moneys were a joke? Because no one liked the game. Do you wanna bet that QC will still be alive and have bigger prices than any other quake? Heck, it already got to that point
noone liked it? it was as close to q3 as possible I'd say. the 1 mill $ tournament was nothing but promotion and a desperate try to get the name out there. there will be, at best, 1 more big $ tournament in the near future (maybe DH idk) and then it'll all go down to pennies, again. QL was and is a great game. I bet 9/10 pros would go back to QL if there would be a 5-10k $ tournament each month for duel/ctf/tdm each. Oh, and some actual updates to keep the game fresh, which this spongeturd or that other loser who ruined the game promised like 5+ times in raphas and other streams, that never happened, not even once.
At least Euro Truck Simulator 2 (the one I've played) is a way better game than QC right now. No wonder it sells better.
That's the problem of publishing the game on Steam: Now there's competition. For $10 or $30 you can do so much better on Steam than buying QC. And even when QC is released, then the game will cost $40 and who in their right mind would get QC instead of OW.
"who in their right mind would get QC instead of OW" ?
Anyone with a touch of self-esteem, there is nothing as garbage as feminine anime styled FPSes. Quake Champions has its flaws but it will never be as low as Overwatch.
Reading into steam stats for QC right now is pointless.
Just look at Ark, $60 price tag, basically the same game as when it was early access but more expensive. Mixed reviews, all the reviews on the store page right now are negative.
But despite all that:
5,232,031 ± 77,103 players total.
570,227 ± 25,588 players in last 2 weeks
58,987 24 hour peak
I'm probably not gonna play until there are persistent servers that I can browse and join rather than wait for a game. I did buy early access though, as I probably owe them for wolf, doom, doom 2, quake, quake 2 and quake 3. And as soon as persistent browseble servers are added, I will play.
Just not enough players in SA for this search for a game crap. At the moment the only way to play is to join a fucking whatsapp group and organize with friends to play in a party.
ps. after watching a couple of games of duel from quakecon, it's better than I expected, but still fucking stupid and boring. Quake is all about momentum and the whole round thing kills it.
On the plus side if I put effort into it I should be fucking awesome, as I've always been stronger in the short term towards the beginning of a game.
Hero's are fine, but they should just let you pick a hero when you respawn.
Name me one reason why it would or should ever be in the steam top 50 games or 100. There is none.
It won't happen. Stop living in the past! Since 10 years you guys are acting as if Quake will come back in some way if only the marketing would be right. Instead of accepting this and just enjoying the game for what it is you were hoping that Quake would become Nr. 1 esports it's delusional.
And when id will stop keeping the deadborn alive artificially with cash injections, it will die off and it will leave the legacy quake series dead and itself will be dead aswell so there will be nothing left.
Why the fuck is everyone here bitching about a low player count, and acting all surprised.
-Game was added to Early Access 17 days ago
-General 1st impressions were rather low (I know I wasn't excited about champions in Quake)
-Most of the Hype around this game was built around QuakeCon which has gone on for so long now most outsiders (myself included) just give a passing glance if at all.
-Relatively high price for a Early Access game that's going to be F2P
-Doesn't fill a niche role that hasn't already been filled or in high demand. A good example of a game that does that is PUBG, which is succeeding over the massive shortcomings of all the other Battle Royales, and buildt up significant hype before Early Access
If this game still has a low player count shortly after full release that's when I would worry.
For what it's worth, having played QC the past couple days it's been the most fun I've had in any FPS for the last ~5 years at least with random people idk
If anything what would make this game grow is people making videos/streaming about how much they enjoy playing this game, active development, and don't BM people who're already shit-tier like myself (they probably already know).
