what's the advantage of buying the game on steam instead of bethesda with teir launcher?

You can do loads of commands like this via steam.

I would like it on steam as the game is unplayable for me since i bought it via the launcher, but I'm not sure if it will be the same on steam.

I'll wait for the update. I can still learn the two new maps, but not much else.

NEW UPDATE appears to have fixed my warping problem.

well mostly the things described above, also Steam client is quite polished and trusted thing. while Bethesda launcher is new one and feels like a beta, and it can eat a lot of resources in background.

There's qclauncher, so you don't have to use that either way.

can qc be installed without the garbage bethesda software?

No idea.

You can install it but you still need Bethesda launcher in order to keep the game version up to date. If the game is not up to date qclauncher will not start the game.

Can't they just put this setting under video options in the game?

yes, they will put maxfps and fps counter directly into the game

Steam passes that command to QC. It's a QC command. You just can't access it in the UI for whatever reason.

External software capping frame rate will always add more input lag than if the game itself did it.

i rly buttfcuked my self with not buying the game via steam. ... They did say we will be able to transfer it to steam. I hope that will be available soon.

- Is this allowed by idsoftware and tournaments ?

Also i get between 150 - 190 fps usually.

I'm not sure, if it will help or not, cause usually it happens when you have unstable connection. But in QC amount of output internet packets depends on a amout of FPS you have ingame. So limiting FPS to some stable value may improve your QC network experience.

Also you can try to activate only nearest server location and deactivate all others via ingame menu button somewhere near chat button.

No idea, but imo it is not a kind of cheat at all, and a lot of games has fps-capping option in their menus. So it is idsoftware's fault that they haven't added UI option for that.

Also I suggest you to synchronize your FPS with your monitor's refresh rate:
- Monitor has 60 Hz -> MaxFPS = 60/120/180/240
- Monitor has 120 Hz -> MaxFPS = 120/240
and so on

i noticed it didn't mattered at what frames i caped my fps, so i have set at 130fps, it sometimes dips to 110, if recording/streaming, but it seems it doesn't effect the smoothness of the gameplay.

as title says, capping works only on the max fps, but it won't cap your minimum fps, as your minimum depends on system perfomance.

I think they said it will come in next update.

supposedly, things like this are on the backlog, until they fix the main probs with the game. But i bet fps cap will help smooth out the game.
