One of the reasons it is terrible is because Bethesda is not taking it seriously. The people in charge of QC are the same guys who initially tried to tank Quake Live, though due to the fact that idtech3 is such a great engine, they could not completely ruin QL. However, now Bethesda has chosen a horrible, 3rd party developer (Saber) whose last game, Halo Online, ran on the shitty Saber engine and never made it out of beta. So now QC is running on this same crappy Saber engine, with the same crappy Saber developers so it stands no chance. Compare this to the new Wolfenstein game that Bethesda is about to release, that uses an idtech engine, and you can definitely see the difference in terms of quality when a real engine is involved. Same with Doom 2016. It really is sad to see how hard Quake Champions is failing, since this is Quake's last chance at the limelight and they have completely blown it despite such great potential. Also add the fact that this game was in no way ready to be released as a beta/early access or have such large tournaments around it considering its shitty state. This really is a colossal fuck-up of epic proportions and is basically the textbook example of how not to bring a stored IP with a loyal fanbase into modern times. Hopefully future publishers take note because this is fucking embarrassing and a huge letdown to everyone who has grown up with this game or even those who never played it but have always heard such great things about Quake

Agreed (if I understand you correctly). Even if the game was 100% bug free, I don't think it would be doing any better than it is now.

I don't think there's a creative bone in their collective bodies at id at this point. It's a hack job to try and pander to as wide an audience as possible. I also don't think the whole, "quake at its core" bs they've been pushing was a conscious game play decision. More it was them being at least honest enough to realize they have no one competent enough to flesh out each champion and come up with new, unique weapons for each one. Keeping things like quake movement and item/weapon pickups was a cop-out and cost saving measure more than anything.

Whats the point of this post? Theres nothing relevant in that thread. Its a mix of esr users parotting what has been said here a thousad times and people who know jack shit about Quake. The thing they have in common is that they are all retarded enough to frequent 4chan

I found it entertaining to scroll through but what you say is correct. Atleast there is a discussion goin on unlike esr which has become very stale, and reddit is as mentioned cancer where the main topics seem to be lore and cosmetics cirklejerking. Bethesda forums I assume are okay but they are quite restricted like old ql forum. :)
